Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite saw “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay defeat House of Black’s Buddy Matthews in a singles match. Immediately following the matchup, Ospreay told Matthews and Brody King that they didn’t need a leader and that he saw gold in Matthews’ future. He then offered to be in Matthews’ corner in the future, fueling speculation that Black’s time with AEW could end.
Fightful Select reports that Malakai Black’s contract with AEW includes option years extending beyond 2025, and AEW President Tony Khan even noted in the past that Black is under contract with the company until 2027. However, there is no word on whether Black’s contract with the company has expired or an option year has been added or discarded. Malakai Black is still listed on the company’s official website on the roster page.
