After a breakout year thanks to his feud with The Bloodline and alliance with Kevin Owens, WWE will be without Sami Zayn heading into 2024.
As PWMania.com previously reported, WWE did an injury spot in Zayn’s match with Drew McIntyre on Monday Night RAW last week, allowing McIntyre to go over. McIntyre attacked Zayn while he was being examined by medical personnel.
WWE reportedly granted Zayn’s request for time off. It wasn’t clear when the hiatus would begin at the time. On Monday’s RAW, WWE announced Zayn was “injured” with a “partially torn meniscus,” with no timetable for his return.
Dave Meltzer brought up his original report about Zayn taking time off on Wrestling Observer Radio, though he hasn’t heard whether Zayn is dealing with a legitimate injury.
“I was told that he had asked for time off. The partially torn meniscus may be legit because guys are always hurt anyway. Last week…..I was told Sami is gonna be off for a while. He asked for time off. Not over an injury or anything like that…I don’t know if he’s got a partially torn meniscus or not. He very possibly does, but he actually asked time off, regarding the injury situation,” Meltzer stated.
