According to Fightful Select, there were never any plans to have a storyline angle between Costco Guy A.J. and QT Marshall featured on AEW programming as the company wanted to avoid any talent from the roster becoming upset that the angle would take up their TV time.
Marshall and Sonjay Dutt pushed hard for the match to happen and when they approached AEW President Tony Khan with the idea, the pitch was made for the program to not take up any time on Dynamite or Collision. Costco Guy A.J. and his family has been very respectful of the process.
A.J. has been promoting his match with Marshall in a media tour over the past month and AEW officials have reportedly been thrilled with this and the attention their storyline has been receiving that AEW has decided to incorporate Big Boom into a Dynamite segment this week, which is the Full Gear go-home episode.
