Nick Aldis has yet to sign with Impact Wrestling.
On Sunday, Aldis returned to Impact at Rebellion to provide guest commentary on the main event, which saw Steve Maclin defeat Kushida to win the vacant Impact World Title. Aldis saved Impact President Scott D’Amore from Maclin’s bullying in the post-match angle. On commentary, Aldis stated unequivocally that he is back with Impact and focused on the World Title.
In an update, a new report from PWInsider states that Aldis has not yet officially signed with Impact. The two parties reached what was described as a short-term verbal agreement.
Aldis is expected to be at the top of the rankings for at least the next few months as the buildup to the Aldis vs. Maclin title match continues. It was speculated that Aldis vs. Maclin would headline the Slammiversary pay-per-view from the St. Clair College Sportsplex in Windsor, Ontario, Canada on Saturday, July 15, but this was not confirmed.
Aldis appeared in a backstage segment with Jimmy Jacobs on Thursday night’s post-Rebellion edition of Impact Wrestling, as seen below. He thanked everyone for their support and discussed the promotion’s history. Aldis also stated that he wishes to challenge Maclin for the World Title, and that he wishes to reclaim the title he once held in order to demonstrate that he is the gold standard in professional wrestling.
