Backstage News on Concern Over Randy Orton’s WWE Future, Latest on the Status of RK-Bro

The last time Matt Riddle and Randy Orton teamed up, they lost the Raw Tag Team Titles to The Usos in a Winner Take All match on SmackDown in May 2022. Since then, a lot has changed in the WWE.

Early in 2021, they began working together and quickly developed into the favored tag team RK-Bro. At WWE SummerSlam 2021, Orton and Riddle triumphed over AJ Styles and Omos to claim the titles.

Originally, they were supposed to feud, but because they did so well with the fans, those plans kept getting pushed back. WWE initially intended to carry out its original plans when Orton first took time off due to a back injury before dropping them when it became clear that Orton would be missing for a while.

It appears that WWE won’t be reforming the team, according to Dave Meltzer’s report in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

WWE announced last week on SmackDown that Drew McIntyre and Sheamus will now be known as The Banger Bros as they progress as a tag team.

Because the WWE “because the WWE doesn’t usually like to do names so similarly,” that it would appear that there are no immediate plans for Orton and Riddle to continue as a tag team, Meltzer reports.

According to Meltzer, Orton’s back problems caused a lot of concern about his career.

After failing a second drug test in 2022, Riddle was suspended for breaking the company’s wellness policy with the intention of going to rehab. Riddle had earlier broken the company’s wellness rules during the summer.

Orton had lower back fusion surgery in November of last year, and a timetable for his comeback is uncertain.
