On Sunday night, AEW TNT Champion Adam Copeland faced Malakai Black in a violent barbed wire steel cage match at the AEW Double Or Nothing pay-per-view event from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The two men used chairs, tables, and barbed wire in addition to being broken open. The match had two major takeaways, the first of which was the surprise appearance of former WWE star Gangrel, who entered the ring to assist Copeland due to their history as members of The Brood.
The other incident occurred when Copeland performed an elbow drop off the top of the cage and landed badly on his legs while colliding with Black, who was on a table. Copeland’s whereabouts have been a source of speculation since the fight.
Copeland has since announced he will need surgery for a fractured tibia.
With regard to Black, “PWInsider.com is told there was concern for him after the cage match due to the amount of blood he lost, but he was OK after, just really banged up and exhausted, as one might imagine after going through that insane match.”
Neither man has been announced for Wednesday’s Dynamite, but it’s likely they’ll take at least a week off after the brutal match.
