According to Fightful Select, the original plan for this past Friday’s WWE SmackDown dark match main events was Sami Zayn taking on Ludwig Kaiser in a singles match and World Heavyweight Champion “The Ring General” GUNTHER defending his title against “Main Event” Jey Uso and Damian Priest in a Triple Threat Match.
The dark match main events would end up being Zayn taking on Santos Escobar with Legado Del Fantasma in his corner and GUNTHER battling Uso in singles action, with Kaiser and Priest getting involved. A tag team match between Priest and Uso vs. GUNTHER and Kaiser was then made following the one-on-one match.
The changes were done simply as a way to send the fans home with a happy result as Priest and Uso would go on to defeat Imperium.
