Backstage News On Amazon & Disney Making Bid To Acquire Rights To WWE SmackDown

Who will end up with the television rights to WWE Friday Night SmackDown?

The race is on!

WWE is currently in the middle of discussions with various television networks regarding the rights for Raw (USA Network) and SmackDown (FOX), which are set to expire in 2024.

The company has reportedly ended their exclusive negotiation period with USA Network and FOX, opening up other networks to begin talks with WWE.

Dave Meltzer reported on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio at F4WOnline.com that Amazon and Disney are two leading contenders in the bid for the television rights to WWE Friday Night SmackDown in particular.

According to the report, FOX is not interested in bidding to pay $300 million per year for the weekly two-hour WWE program.

WWE is reportedly looking, as always, to get a huge increase in the price for both Raw and NXT, both of which are expected to remain on the USA Network.
