Becky Lynch successfully defended her WWE NXT Women’s Title against Natalya on Monday’s RAW. According to PWInsider, the original plan called for Lynch to defend against Tegan Nox.
Natalya was supposed to face Xia Li in the WWE Main Event tapings before RAW, but they went with Nox vs. Li instead. Full Main Event spoilers can be found by clicking here.
As PWMania.com previously stated, NXT’s Dragon Lee faced off against NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio on this week’s RAW, setting up a title match between the two the following Monday night. Lee was brought in as part of a strategy to raise the profile of NXT across RAW and SmackDown in the hopes of attracting new fans to Tuesday nights.
Cody Rhodes defeated Mysterio in a non-title match in the first RAW match of the night this week. The match between Ricochet and Shinsuke Nakamura was supposed to take place next, before Kofi Kingston vs. Ivar, but they decided to move it later in the show. Backstage sources say this was done to bring more star power to the later segments, as WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins would also be present.
