An AEW star may be sidelined with a knee injury after weeks of inactivity in the ring.
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed he received a photo of Brian Cage clutching his knee during a match. Cage was originally scheduled to appear at last weekend’s Chris Bey tribute show but did not participate. He was also expected to compete at AEW’s Dynasty pay-per-view on April 5.
Meltzer commented:
“I don’t know this for certain, but all signs point to Brian Cage possibly being injured. I got an email Thursday night from someone I don’t know—it included a photo of Cage holding his knee during a match with Chris Masters. I’m not even sure where it took place. So take this with a grain of salt. But he did miss the Chris Bey tribute show, where he was set to face Rich Swann. Originally, Lance Archer and Brian Cage were scheduled to face the Hurt Business at Dynasty, but now, out of nowhere, it’s Big Bill and Brian Keith stepping in. It seems like they had to put something together quickly.”
Cage’s last recorded match was on March 20 at an independent event. Until more is confirmed, this remains speculative.
