AEW Collision Review – October 6, 2023

AEW World Tag Team Titles Match
FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) (c) vs. Ricky Starks & Big Bill

Ricky Starks jumps the gun by tossing Dax Harwood around and knocking Cash Wheeler off the apron. Starks got a two count after a tornado DDT before Harwood managed to backdrop Starks and work on him with chops.

Big Bill tags in and hits Harwood with a right hand followed by a lariat to dump Harwood to ringside. Big Bill cleared the announce table & Big Bill chokeslams Wheeler through the table.

Bill tosses Harwood back in the ring before Harwood dodges Bill’s Stinger Splash and knocks Starks off the apron. Wheeler dodges another Bill’s Stinger Splash before Bill blocks a Sharpshooter and nails Harwood with a Mafia Kick.

Bill hits Harwood with a chokeslam. Starks ordered Bill to give Harwood another chokeslam which Bill did. Bill was about to go for the pin but Starks orders for another pin.

Bill hit Harwood with a 3rd chokeslam before Starks asks for 1 more so Bill gave Harwood a uppercut. Starks tags in and hits Harwood with the Spear for the win.

Winners & New AEW World Tag Team Champions: Ricky Starks & Big Bill (NEW CHAMPIONS!!!!!)

After the match Starks & Bill celebrated their win with Starks mockingly putting his boot on Harwood’s chest while posing.

We get highlights from Powerhouse Hobbs joining The Don Callis Family this past Wednesday on Dynamite.

Bryan Danielson vs. Kyle Fletcher

Bryan Danielson starts this match with his usual technical wrestling before Kyle Fletcher got to his feet and came back with a shoulder tackle then both men felt each other out for a bit of the beginning of the match. Fletcher gave Danielson a chop in the corner.

Danielson got to his feet and took down Fletcher with a running knee to the gut then Danielson used a fish hook to put Fletcher in a Surfboard as Danielson works on Fletcher with elbows and a PK for a near fall.

Danielson went for some joint manipulation but Fletcher got out but gets hit with a front kick from Danielson. Fletcher recovers and dumps Danielson to ringside with a jump thrust kick. Fletcher hits Danielson with a suicide dive as we go to a picture in picture break.

After the break Fletcher hit Danielson with chained short arm body slams. Danielson escaped a 3rd bodyslam and took out Fletcher with a flying lariat. Danielson hits Fletcher with Yes Kicks. Fletcher kicks out at 2 after the Buzzsaw Kick.

Danielson shook up Fletcher with alternating chops and Muay Thai roundhouse kicks. Danielson hit Fletcher with a Frankensteiner then Danielson hit Fletcher with a few hesitation dropkicks in the corner.

Fletcher no sold one dropkick and gave Danielson a Yakuza Kick and Brainbuster for a near fall. Danielson tried to escape the corner but ate a superkick from Fletcher.

Danielson avoided a dropkick in the corner to cause Fletcher to hurt his knee as he dropkicks the turnbuckle. Danielson tangled Fletcher’s leg on the 2nd rope and gave Fletcher alternating chops and kicks. Danielson reversed a kick into the Ankle Lock.

Danielson hits Fletcher with a bridged German for a near fall. Fletcher got a standing switch on Danielson. Fletcher fought through elbows to hit Bryan with a half & half suplex. Fletcher & Danielson took their time to get to their feet.

Fletcher hits Danielson in the back of the neck with a leg lariat. Danielson escaped a powerslam attempt as Fletcher reversed a Knee Plus into a Michinoku Driver for a two count.

Fletcher dug in a Dragon Sleeper DDT on Danielson. Danielson got a foot on the rope to break the hold. Fletcher drags Danielson to the top rope and gave him elbows to the neck. Fletcher hits Danielson with a super reverse suplex into a Dragon Sleeper but Danielson rolls up Fletcher for the win.

Winner: Bryan Danielson

After the match Gates Of Agony ran out to beat down Danielson before Blackpool Combat Club’s Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli ran out to clear Fletcher, Toa Liona & Prince Nana from the ring. Castagnoli was about to give Kaun a Giant Swing but Liona & Nana drags Kaun to ringside to retreat.

Backstage Tony Schiavone interviews the new AEW World Tag Team Champions Big Bill & Ricky Starks. Bill talked about whooping the asses of the best tag team in the world. He talked about how he & Starks walk and act like stars and now the tag division is represented by stars.

Starks said that FTR aren’t getting any rematch. Starks said that they are the real faces of Collision. He said that when you think of him & Bill you better of think of them with respect. He said he & Bill are the top dogs on Collision.

Trios Match
Bullet Club Gold (Juice Robinson, Austin Gunn & Coleton Gunn) vs. Angelico, Gravity & Metalik

Austin Gunn gave Gravity a right hand while mocking Gravity’s moon walk. Gravity came back with a few arm drags. Gravity moonwalked to tag in Metalik. Juice Robinson also tags in and chest bumps Metalik. Metalik did a backflip into a back kick and right hand.

Metalik caught Juice with a boot and slingblade bulldog for a two count then Angelico tags in and works on Robinson with a wrist hold.

Gravity tags in and gave Robinson a double stomp onto Robinson’s trap elbow. Robinson slams Gravity to the mat and tags in Colten Gunn & he hits Gravity with a dropkick. Colten worked on Gravity with forearms heading into picture in picture.

Robinson pumps his arm & punches Gravity to the mat. Austin then hits Gravity with punches. Colten tags in and struggled to get Gravity to his feet. Gravity rolls up Colten for a two count.

Angelico tags in and cleans house off the hot tag before Angelico hits Robinson with a handstand kick. Angelico puts Colten in an Indian Deathlock while also putting Austin in an abdominal stretch.

Robinson broke up both submissions with a sidestep punch. Robinson drags Gravity to ringside and tossed him to the barricade. Metalik caught The Gunns with a crossbody.

Metalik hits Colten with a tightrope springboard rana before The Guns hits Metalik with 310 To Yuma then Robinson hits Metalik with The Juice Is Loose for the win.

Winners: Bullet Club Gold

After the match Jay White took the mic and said they were missing someone for their celebration, their Jay White cutout. They drag the cutout to the ring. White hypes up the Bang Bang Gang being in the house while also joking about jacking MJF’s AEW World Title. White then addressed MJF which drew MJF chants from the crowd. White said that AEW needs an elite champion and that’s not Max. White said he’s here with the AEW World Title and where is Max? Maybe nursing his or Adam’s wounds back at home?

White said he expected MJF to at least try to get his belt back because it means the most to him. White said a champion needs challengers. White challenges Hangman Page on title Tuesday in a “Non Title Match”. White jokingly said it’ll be an “eliminator” match. White said MJF can sit back and relax because Jay White does it better than Max and everyone knows it. White ends the promo by saying he has two words for MJF, Guns Up.

A Nick Wayne promo package aired. Wayne talks about how Darby Allin abandoned him on the indies and he was just making up for lost time by joining Allin’s worst enemy. Wayne said Christian was the father figure he always needed while Allin abandoned him.

A replay aired of Adam Copeland & TNT Champion Christian Cage’s segment from this past Wednesday aired.

Trios Titles Match
The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) & Billy Gunn (c) vs. Iron Savages (Boulder, Bronson & Jacked Jameson)

Billy Gunn starts the match by slowly taking off his shirt then Bronson works on Gunn with right hands and a shoulder tackle before Bronson works on Gunn with methodical offense but Gunn recovers and hit Bronson with a shoulder tackle. Anthony Bowens tags in and hit Bronson with an assisted scissors elbow for a two count.

Bowens & Bronson traded punches with Bowens winning that battle before Jacked Jameson got a two count after a Bronson senton before we go to a break

After the break Bowens caught Jameson with an enzuigiri. Bronson cut Bowens off at the pass. Boulder hit Bowens with a bodyslam. Boulder knocks Gunn off the apron. Boulder did a few hip swivels. Bowens avoided Boulder’s moonsault to get a window of opportunity.

Max Caster & Jameson tag in with Caster having the hot hand. Caster hits Bronson with a Death Valley Driver. Caster caught Boulder with a superkick and hits Boulder with a Death Valley Driver.

Caster hits Jameson with a diving crossbody for a near fall. Caster fended off Boulder & Bronson with strikes. Iron Savages gave Caster a double chokeslam. Bowens & Gunn broke up Jameson’s pin.

Boulder went for a double suplex on Gunn & Caster but they reversed it and hit Boulder with a suplex. Gunn told him to suck it and did the motion. Bowens hits Boulder with Scissor Me Timbers. Bowens hits Jameson with The Arrival then Caster hits Mic Drop for the win.

Winners & Still Trios Champions: The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn (STILL CHAMPIONS!!!!!)

A Shane Taylor & Keith Lee promo package aired where both men took turns talking about their history together. Taylor talked about how they used to be a tag team. Lee talks about how he helped Taylor feed his family in their team. Taylor said it pisses him off that people see Lee as the better one of the duo. Lee ends the segment by saying that he applauds Taylor’s confidence and arrogance but it will be his undoing.

Toni Storm vs. Kiera Hogan

Toni Storm hands Kiera Hogan a script but she rips up the script & this fired up Storm as she came back with a lariat and boots. Hogan escaped the corner and laid a slap on Storm’s face. Hogan gave Storm a drop toehold and hip attack on the 2nd rope.

Hogan hits Storm with a superkick but Storm came back by slamming Hogan to the mat. Storm drags Hogan by the hair and tosses her around the ring.

Hogan recovers and hits Storm with a crossbody. Storm gave Hogan a drop toehold into the bottom turnbuckle. Storm then dumps Hogan to ringside wit a hip attack. Storm said we’ll be right back stay tuned to send the show into picture in picture.

After the break Hogan sends Storm into the corner and gave her a hip attack followed by a baseball slide boot. Storm kick out at two. Toni recovered and gave Kiera a spinebuster for a near fall. Storm got in the ref’s face and said how dare you very slow and dramatically.

Hogan hits Storm with a kick and step up leg drop for a near fall. Storm turns the tables and bites on Hogan’s ass a bit then Storm did her frame pose and hits Hogan with a Hip attack and Storm Zero for the win.

Winner: Toni Storm

Renee Paquette interviewed Ruby Soho about not winning a #1 Contenders match recently. Soho said she had Hikaru Shida pinned and it was Shida’s fault for hitting the referee. She said she’ll be at ringside cheering Saraya on. Paquette said she was informed that Soho was banned from ringside. Soho rants a bit but said she’s cool as a cucumber. She said there’s a reason Saraya is Women’s Champion because she’s the most dominant force in the ring and she’ll defeat Shida on Tuesday.

ROH World Title Match
Eddie Kingston (c) vs. Komander

Eddie Kingston dominated the early lock up before Komander came back with an armdrag. Komander continued with another armdrag and pose sequence. Kingston slowly walks away to avoid a ringside dive. Komander put Kingston in an Octopus Hold.

Kingston fell to the ground with the submission still locked in but he broke the hold with a bottom rope break. Kingston sent Komander to the corner and followed up with Machine Gun Chops heading into picture in picture.

After the break Komander rallied with a strike combo and hits Kingston with a springboard corkscrew crossbody for a near fall. Komander hits Kingston with a spin kick and standing Shooting Star for a near fall.

Komander sent Kingston to ringside with a baseball slide and hits Kingston with a flip dive from the apron over the ring post. Komander caught Kingston with a 450 splash in the ring for a near fall.

Kingston trips up Komander and gave Komander a chop on the top rope. Kingston & Komander traded chops, forearms, and headbutts on the top rope. Komander hits Kingston with a superplex reversal for a near fall.

Eddie caught Komander with a Uranage for a near fall. Kingston hits Komander with a short arm lariat for a two count. Komander reversed a northern lights into a tornado DDT for a near fall when Kingston got to his feet, he hits Komander with a Spinning Backfist for the win.

Winner & Still ROH World Champion: Eddie Kingston (STILL CHAMPION!!!!!)

After the match they shake hands.

Adam Copeland enters the ring for a promo. He said before he speaks, he wants to point out JR on the announce table. He noted that JR signed Copeland to his 1st wrestling contract and helped him pay off his college debt. Copeland said he’s forever indebted to JR. JR nodded in acknowledgement. Copeland said if you saw this past Dynamite things didn’t go exactly to plan.

Copeland said he doesn’t get it because him coming to AEW was primarily to team with his old buddy TNT Champion Christian Cage. Copeland said it may sound like a fairy tale but he was told that he couldn’t wrestle again. He said he’s still here and standing in an AEW ring through hard work and a lot of persistence. He said Christian was also told the same thing for 7 years and is in AEW with Adam in the same situation. Copeland said it has always been the plan to reunite, but after a while Christian got colder stopped taking phone calls.

Copeland said he agrees that Christian is a dick but he loves Christian as a best friend for 40 years. Copeland said Christian is in his bond villain phase which must make Nick Wayne the villain’s Persian cat that he rubs. A Persian cat chant ensued. Copeland said if they chant that in front of Nick Wayne, Copeland will smile. Copeland said he’s out here for answers to find out what’s going on. He said he’s highly confused and wants Christian to come out to confront him and tell him what’s up.

Copeland waits for Christian to come out but Christian instead responded on the big screen. Christian said Copeland has been here a week and accomplished nothing. Christian said as TNT Champion he’ll do as he pleases. He said he’ll give Copeland his answer on Tuesday at Dynamite. Christian said he’ll make it to Tuesday but will Copeland? Luchasaurus & Nick Wayne made their entrance.

Wayne & Luchasaurus flanked Copeland from opposite sides. Copeland tackled Luchasaurus off the apron and gave Wayne an Edgeucution. Copeland went for a Spear on Wayne but Luchasaurus intercepted Copeland and gave him a Chokeslam. Luchasaurus gave Copeland a Northern Lariat to the back of the neck. Luchasaurus drags chairs to the ring and put one under Copeland’s head. Darby Allin’s entrance theme played to stop Luchasaurus from hitting Copeland with a Con Chair To. Allin attacks Luchasaurus in the back with a chair because he expected Allin to come down the ramp.

Allin hesitated hitting Nick Wayne with a chair. Darby missed a chair on Luchasaurus which allowed Wayne to hit Allin with a dropkick. Wayne slams a chair into Allin’s right arm, Con Chair To style & they stand tall to close out this week’s Collision.
