Will Ospreay Teases Abrupt Retirement From Pro Wrestling

AEW star Will Ospreay recently sat down for an interview on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet, where he shared a candid and unexpected perspective on his eventual retirement from professional wrestling. Unlike many legendary figures who plan grand farewell tours or emotional send-offs, Ospreay envisions a sudden and controversial exit from the industry.

On Thinking About Retirement:

“I don’t like thinking of it.”

Rather than gradually stepping away from the spotlight, Ospreay expects to walk away without warning, leaving fans and the industry in shock.

“I think I will one day just disappear. I will just go, ‘Ah, this is me.’ I won’t have anything really.”

Ospreay contrasted his vision for retirement with the traditional emotional goodbyes that have become common in wrestling—such as Sting’s recent farewell. However, instead of a heartfelt farewell, Ospreay wants to go out in the most unexpected way possible.

“I will grab the microphone on live TV and say the C word, and then just drop the mic, ruin this, and then I’ll just go be a postman somewhere.”

Doubling down on his desire to exit in the most Ospreay-esque way possible, he even described a potential scenario:

“Like that big Sting retirement, where everyone’s coming out, cupping their hands, tears in their eyes, and I just grab the microphone and go, ‘C*nt!’ That’s the way I want to go out.”

While his comments were clearly tongue-in-cheek, they encapsulate Ospreay’s rebellious and unpredictable nature, which has been a hallmark of his wrestling career.
