Top AEW star Kenny Omega made his highly anticipated return to in-ring action in NJPW before making his way back to All Elite Wrestling. During his time in Japan, Omega reunited with Japanese wrestling legend Hiroshi Tanahashi. NJPW later released a video teasing the possibility of the two teaming up at Wrestle Dynasty, but the match never materialized.
According to Fightful Select, AEW’s creative team never formally discussed any such plans, and sources within NJPW also confirmed that there was never an official plan for Omega and Tanahashi to team up or face off. The report further noted that the teaser video was edited in a way that only fueled speculation and excitement.
