On Wednesday night’s episode of AEW Dynamite, “The Aerial Assassin” Will Ospreay defeated House of Black’s Buddy Matthews in a singles match. Immediately following the bout, Ospreay told Matthews that he and Brody King did not need a leader and that he saw gold in Matthews’ future. Ospreay then offered to be in Matthews’ corner in the future.
Matthews appeared in a digital exclusive shortly following Dynamite to comment on his loss to Ospreay and what Ospreay told him after their matchup.
Matthews said, “2024 is in the books. 2025 is the now, and it’s upon us. I didn’t start my 2025 the way I was hoping, especially leading into Grand Slam in Australia next month. But for years, Will’s heard my name, and for years, I’ve heard Will’s. Tonight, these names came together. Will, even though you put a hiccup in my 2025, your words tonight didn’t go to deaf ears.”
