CM Punk vs. Seth Rollins is a highly anticipated showdown over a year in the making, as the two are set to collide on tonight’s premiere episode of WWE Raw on Netflix.
The rivalry reignited when Punk made his shocking return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, with Rollins publicly calling him out and taking verbal shots ever since. The two were originally slated to face off at WrestleMania 40 for the World Title, but Punk’s injury derailed those plans. Now, the match will finally take place, with fans eagerly awaiting the confrontation.
On the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio on SportsKeeda’s Backstage Pass Patreon, it was noted that Punk and Rollins last wrestled each other nearly 11 years ago, in their first and only singles match to date.
“December 30, 2013 was a Monday night, where Raw opened up with a match between CM Punk versus Seth Rollins. The only time those two guys have wrestled one-on-one, either on the Indies or within the WWE, did happen about 12 years ago now, well, a little over 11 years ago at this point. So [it will be] interesting to see what happens Monday night when they are in the main event, in their second match, on Monday Night Raw.”
Tonight’s match also marks Punk’s first match on Raw since January 20, 2014, when he faced Billy Gunn. The historic nature of this clash, paired with the culmination of their heated feud, has fans and insiders alike anticipating a main event worthy of the Raw on Netflix premiere.
