Dog ownership may be the last thing that comes to mind when you think about WWE. Some of the world’s most fearsome tough guys are, in fact, big-time animal lovers. When you find out who they are, you might look at them in an entirely different light.
In the sections below, we will take a closer look at some of the most pet-friendly WWE stars out there, and who they’re choosing to make part of their families. Let’s first think about what it takes to keep a healthy pup, though.
Everyone has to take care of their pets
The superstars we will describe below are examples of wrestlers who have managed to fit pet ownership into their busy schedules. There are also many others who have admitted to wanting a dog but fearing that their busy schedules won’t allow for it.
Dog ownership is a big job, after all: You need to make sure the animals are properly fed and take a sufficient number of walks every day. You need to look after their health regularly and make sure nothing is going wrong. And it doesn’t hurt to look into their genetic history to determine exactly what their DNA composition is. Just like with humans, you can figure out a lot about dogs by determining their DNA structure. You can even get a dog DNA kit online and have it sent right to your house.
Not as intimidating as you’d think
Let’s now take a look at the lives of some of WWE’s most well-known dog owners. Even beyond pet ownership, some of their stories might surprise you!
Johnny Gargano
We all know Johnny Gargano for his major accomplishments: NXT Triple Crown winner, WWE tag team champion, independent wrestling. We know him for his signature skills, including the Gargano Escape and One Final Beat. He is also known as someone with inexhaustible energy who really knows how to rally a crowd.
What people might not know about Johnny is that he is also a big-time animal lover. Gargano and his wife Candace LeRae recently adopted an adorable baby boxer that they’re called “Pawdme.” How cute is that?
The Miz
The Miz is definitely a jack of all trades. Beyond being a two-time WWE champion and eight-time Intercontinental champion, he wears multiple hats in other walks of life. Born Michael Gregory Mizanin, The Miz is also a professional actor and TV personality, known for the popular reality show Miz and Mrs. Indeed, his public life takes numerous different forms.
Another interesting fact about The Miz is that he has been the owner of multiple dogs over the years. There was Mocha, a dark little cutie who unfortunately passed away during the filming of the show. They also had Pumpkin, a lovable beagle/collie whom The Miz loved to cuddle with. And now there is Wolf, who continues to entertain family and viewers alike.
Bryan Danielson
Bryan Danielson – or Daniel Bryan, as he is sometimes known – is a figure of many surprises. As intimidating as he might be in the ring, Danielson continues to come up with new activities and interests that seem to defy the profession’s standards.
For one thing, he is an environmental activist. He is also a proud gardener and takes the time to tend to his personal garden on a regular basis. In addition, he is an avid reader, and his reading interests range from fiction to poetry to physics! And he has also been the owner of several adorable dogs: a French bulldog called Josie, Asparagus the Wonder Dog, and another Frenchie called Penelope.
The Rock
Dwayne Johnson also has a multi-faceted life. We probably don’t have to tell you about his Hollywood career: The Scorpion King, Hercules, The Fast And the Furious…the list goes on. The Rock is also the owner of Seven Bucks Productions, co-owner of the United Football League, and brand ambassador for Tereman Tequila.
What may be less known is that he is also a big time lover of French bulldogs, currently being the owner of Hobbs. The Rock’s previous Frenchie, Brutus, unfortunately passed from eating bad food. These little guys are both feisty and bullish in their own way, but no one can question their cuteness value. And it is all the greater when they are in the arms of 16 inch biceps.
Surprised?
So, it may or may not be surprising to learn of the superstars’ love of canines. Wrestling is a professional and athletic endeavor, after all, so the underlying point is that they are just regular guys at the end of the day. Fierce though they may be in the ring, when they go home they are welcomed by loving families at the end of the day. Pets and all.
