WWE does fewer intergender matches now than it did in the past, particularly during the company’s Ruthless Aggression era. However, one match could be big enough for WWE to book.
Following WrestleMania 40, Liv Morgan, the Women’s World Champion, began working with Rhea Ripley. Ripley was injured at the start of their program, so she had to give up the Women’s World Title. Morgan defeated Becky Lynch to win the Women’s World Championship at the King and Queen of the Ring PLE.
Morgan won his grudge match against Ripley at SummerSlam, retaining the title with the help of Dominik Mysterio. Morgan and Mysterio defeated Ripley and Damian Priest in a mixed tag team match at Bash in Berlin, but Ripley won by DQ after Raquel Rodriguez attacked Morgan at Bad Blood.
In the midst of this feud, Mysterio turns on Ripley. On a recent Backstage Pass Q&A, there was talk of Mysterio vs. Ripley.
WrestleVotes stated, “I know it’s been brought up. Unfortunately, I don’t know how high it’s made it, but there is a real desire on some level of creative to do this match before the angle fizzles out. Yes.”
It was added, “I don’t know how far down the table it went. From a lower end, yes, there’s an anticipation of getting something out of this.”
Rhea has openly expressed interest in the concept, which WWE teased when Mysterio touched Ripley on an episode of Raw.
