Ever since John Cena’s appearance at Money in the Bank, there has been plenty of speculation as to exactly how his final run in the WWE will play out.
To recap, Cena made a surprise return back in July, announcing that Wrestlemania 41 will be his final match on The Grandest Stage of Them All, before the 47 year old embarks on a farewell tour that will eventually come to a conclusion towards the end of 2025.
But when will he return? Who will he fight? Will he be given one last title run? We’ve cast our eye across the latest WWE betting odds to get an idea of where the money suggests The Last Time is Now run will take him.
Cena to match Austin’s Royal Rumble record
Although we know Cena will be in action at Wrestlemania 41, the exact moment he’ll return remains a mystery. One obvious option would be at the Royal Rumble in February, as it’d tee up a WWE Title opportunity if he came out on top.
Cena is a two-time Royal Rumble winner, with his triumphs coming back in 2008 and 2013, and only the legendary Stone Cold Steve Austin has three Rumble victories to his name so far.
American betting sites have priced up whether Cena will win the 2025 Royal Rumble, and they make ‘Yes’ the favourite at odds of -400, translating into a percentage chance of 80%.
While that may feel like predictable booking, having him return in a losing cause would be hugely underwhelming, so the odds make a great deal of sense.
Wrestlemania title match is a Coin Toss
Although betting sites are confident that Cena will return in a blaze of glory, there’s far more uncertainty over his fate at Wrestlemania.
Having Cena embark on a record breaking 17th world championship reign at his final Wrestlemania would split the fanbase, and would quite possibly complete his fairytale story too early in the year with a further opportunity potentially coming at Summerslam.
The odds on a Wrestlemania title match are currently set literally 50/50, so there are certainly no spoilers to tap into here.
Cena vs Orton on the cards
Finally, when it comes to predicting Cena’s final Wrestlemania opponent, there are evidently plenty of storylines still to play out. Current champions Cody Rhodes (25%) and Gunther (16%) are both listed prominently in the betting, while having a legend return appears unlikely with Stone Cold, The Undertaker, Triple H and Edge all given less than 2% chance to return to the squared circle one more time.
That leaves Randy Orton heading the market, with The Viper given a dominant 47% chance of going head-to-head against Cena in one final feud which culminates at Wrestlemania. But there’s still plenty of time for twists to play out ahead of what should be a memorable 2025.
