Backstage News On Nigel McGuinness Competing At AEW All In

AEW commentator Nigel McGuinness made his in-ring return after a decade at All In: London, when he competed in the Casino Gauntlet Match.

Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that almost nobody knew he would be competing in the Gauntlet Match as it was kept secretive.

During the post-All In media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan teased that something could be going on with the AEW commentator and Christian Cage.

After his retirement from in-ring competition, McGuinness was offered a WWE deal in September 2006 to wrestle. The deal was pulled after he did not disclose a previous biceps injury during a medical pre-screening. McGuinness’ doctor thought the injury was healed and that he was good enough to wrestle. WWE’s doctors then instructed McGuinness to undergo surgery to repair the old injury, but he couldn’t afford the surgery and he declined, which lead to WWE pulling the offer.
