According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Championship Wrestling From Florida Alumnus Louie Tillet, who was a booker and a wrestler in the company, passed away at the age of 90.
Tillet’s professional wrestling career began in 1956 and ran through 1979. He worked for several wrestling territories in that era, including CWF, Georgia Championship Wrestling, Pacific Northwest Wrestling, NWA Mid-America, and more. Tillet was the booker in CWF and was the person who gave Hulk Hogan (then Terry Boulder) the nickname “Hulk.”
Following his retirement from wrestling, Tillet worked in the real estate industry and ran restaurants. His final match was in August 1982 at a Southeastern Championship Wrestling event in Birmingham, Alabama.
