This Saturday, the WWE will continue its overseas PLEs with Clash at the Castle 2024 live from Glasgow, Scotland. The event will be streaming live at 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT on Peacock in the United States and on WWE Network everywhere else.
Let’s look at the current matches on the card and my predictions on who I think will walk out of Scotland victorious.
WWE Women’s Championship Match: Bayley (c) vs. Piper Niven
While I respect Piper Niven, and having her in a big match in front of her home crowd makes sense, this is more of a filler match to keep Bayley active as champion.
The real threat to Bayley’s title is the inevitable showdown with Nia Jax at Summerslam in August.
Result: Bayley successfully defends her Women’s Championship.
WWE Intercontinental Championship Match: Sami Zayn (c) vs. Chad Gable
This match is a match I am looking forward to. I originally wrote last year that Chad Gable would be the one to dethrone Gunther for the IC Title.
That was not the case; it was Sami Zayn; however, if that’s the setup WWE took to get us here with Gable winning the title as a heel, I am fine with that, while I do not think that will be the case.
The wildcard in the match is Otis. Will he finally turn on Gable and cost him the match, setting up a feud in the future? Or will Otis help Gable, and will this story of tug and war between Otis and Gable continue with Gable as champion?
Losing the title would not hurt Zayn here because he is such a beloved Babyface. That said, I do not see the WWE taking the title off of Zayn so quickly.
I expect Otis to turn on Gable, cost him the title, and set up a program between the two.
Result: Sami Zayn retains his Intercontinental Championship.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Match: Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill (c) vs. Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark vs. Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn
Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill have been unstoppable as a tag team and a great pick to be Tag Team Champions, while Jade Cargill gets more comfortable in the ring.
Ultimately, a program between Cargill and Belair makes the most sense in the long term, and to get there, one has to turn on the other; I don’t see that happening here.
Result: Jade Cargill & Bianca Belair retain their titles.
WWE Championship “I Quit” Match: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. AJ Styles
I loved the setup of this match. AJ talks about retirement, to lure Cody Rhodes in and attack! Rhodes is looking for revenge and will ultimately get that here.
While it’s pretty clear who the winner will be, it still should be a great contest, given the competitors are AJ Styles and Cody Rhodes!
Result: Cody Rhodes makes AJ Styles quit and retain his championship.
World Heavyweight Championship Match: Damian Priest (c) vs. Drew McIntyre
This match is the most difficult one to pick because you can make an argument for either superstar coming out on top. The match is a 50/50 match.
If McIntyre loses again in front of his home crowd, it would be the second straight PLE where this has happened to him in the main event. However, if WWE gives him a way out with CM Punk interfering, it might make it more tolerable to the fans.
While I do not believe Priest will have a very long title reign, and he could lose it here. Like Zayn, I do not see the WWE taking the title off him so quickly.
The booking that makes the most sense would be to have CM Punk cost McIntyre the match, setting up a showdown between the two going into Summerslam. Priest will hold on to the title until Summerslam when he faces “The Ring General” Gunther.
That is the direction I think WWE will go in, and that is why I’m predicting Priest will walk out of the OVO Hydro in Scotland as champion.
Results: Damian Priest retains his championship with some help from CM Punk.
