Tamyra Mensah-Stock, who made history in the Tokyo Olympics, has made her WWE debut.
She ended her amateur wrestling career last May in an attempt to become a professional wrestler. She won the Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling at 68 kilograms in Tokyo in 2021, making her the first Black woman to do so. She had expressed interest in joining the company after winning the gold.
She claimed her second world championship in 2022, this time in Belgrade, Serbia. In the ESPN article announcing her signing, she stated that she hoped to make the main roster within a year.
She won her first NXT house show match against Breanna Covington on Saturday night in Melbourne, Florida. It is unclear when she will make her NXT television debut.
