After a rough week, Steve “Mongo” McMichael’s situation appears to be improving slightly.
The former WCW star lost a great deal of weight and his ability to speak after receiving an ALS diagnosis in 2021. He needed a blood transfusion and was dealing with an MRSA outbreak.
The latest message from the McMichael family has been passed along by family friend and sports anchor Jarrett Payton. It seems that McMichael will hopefully return home on Tuesday.
As a member of the dominant Chicago Bears squad in 1985, McMichael took home the Super Bowl championship. He was just named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of this year, which will be inducted on August 3 in Canton, Ohio.
The class also includes Dwight Freeney, Patrick Willis, Randy Gradishar, Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, and Julius Peppers.
Update on Steve McMichael:
Great news – Mongo is feeling better and he's responding well to the antibiotics. The hope is to have him back at home on Tuesday. Please keep sending up your thoughts and prayers for Steve and his family. ?? #Bears
