WWE SmackDown Review – February 16, 2024
Kicking off this week’s Smackdown with The Rock pulling up to the Delta Center.
Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
Kevin Owens vs. Dominik Mysterio
Match starts off with a lock up then they take turns locking one another in submission holds before Kevin Owens hits Dominik Mysterio with a shoulder tackle.
Mysterio finds himself on the outside but slides back in and looks to land a boot on Owens’ midsection.
Owens catches it then cinches in a side headlock on Mysterio and lands a shoulder tackle on him.
He follows it up with an arm drag but Mysterio catches him with a hurricanrana and a dropkick. Owens clotheslines Mysterio out of the ring then looks to fly.
Mysterio moves out of the way before he can then sends Owens’ head bouncing off the ring apron and connects with a right hand to his head.
He dumps him back in the ring then encounters R Truth as he has appeared out of nowhere.
Mysterio takes advantage and attacks Owens then gets him back in the ring as we go to a break.
After the break Owens fires off right hands on Mysterio’s midsection before they land right hands on one another before Owens fires off several elbows and a clothesline.
He fires off stomps on Mysterio then hits him with a clothesline on the outside and follows it up with a running senton.
He dumps Mysterio back in the ring and lands a cannonball then ascends to the top rope and connects with a Frog Splash then goes for a pin but Mysterio kicks out.
Mysterio hits a facebuster on Owens then follows it up with 3 Amigos & on the 3rd suplex Owens counters into 3 Amigos.
Mysterio blocks him from landing the last one and hits him with a DDT then ascends to the top rope and looks for a Frog Splash.
Owens rolls out of the way and delivers a Swanton Bomb then goes for a pin but Mysterio kicks out.
Owens looks for a Stunner but Mysterio responds with a kick and dials it up for the 619. He goes for a pin but Owens kicks out.
Mysterio calls on Truth to grab a chair for him and Truth does so from the timekeeper’s area.
Instead of handing the chair to him then he sets it up on the outside and sits on it.
This opens the door for Owens to hit a superkick and a Pop Up Powerbomb for the win.
Winner & Gets Into The Elimination Chamber Match: Kevin Owens
After the match Truth celebrates Owens’ win from the outside.
We then head backstage to Kayla Braxton is with Drew McIntyre & they discuss the World Heavyweight Title #1 Contenders Elimination Chamber match. McIntyre says he needs to win the match before LA Knight walks in and says since McIntyre wants to talk about his WrestleMania moment being stolen from him, he’ll steal a moment for him once again. McIntyre & Knight then continue going back & forth taking jabs at one another until officials appear to separate them.
Women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
Tiffany Stratton vs. Zelina Vega
Match starts off with a lock up then Zelina Vega delivers a back elbow to Tiffany Stratton then follows it up with a hurricanrana off the middle rope.
Stratton responds with a bodyslam but Vega trips her then the action spills to the outside and Vega sends Stratton’s head bouncing off the ring apron.
She follows it up with an arm drag using the ring apron for extra momentum before hitting a springboard moonsault and taking notice of Legado Del Fantasma watching the action from the crowd as we go to a break.
After the break LWO reemerges at ringside as Vega hits a clothesline to Stratton.
She sends her crashing into the ropes and dials it up for the 619 but Stratton avoids it.
Vega then lands a DDT but Stratton responds with an Alabama Slam and sets up for Prettiest Moonsault Ever.
Vega dials it up with a 619 to Stratton’s knees then hits a Meteora from the middle rope.
The action spills back out of the ring and Stratton whips Vega into the barricade.
Elektra Lopez gets in Vega’s face and Vega pulls her into the ringside area.
She sends her back out to join the rest of her LDF teammates and walks into a spinebuster from Stratton when she gets back in the ring.
Stratton follows it up with Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the win.
Winner & Gets Into The Elimination Chamber Match: Tiffany Stratton
After the break Women’s Champion Iyo Sky sends a message to Bayley ahead of their Women’s Title match at WrestleMania 40 as Women’s Tag Team Champions Kabuki Warriors flank her. Kairi Sane puts Dakota Kai on notice for siding with her last week.
Tag Team Match
Authors Of Pain (Akam & Rezar) vs. Javier Bernal & Beau Morris
Akam wastes no time going after Javier Bernal as he clocks him then tags in Rezar.
Authors Of Pain drag Morris into the ring as Rezar fires off right hands on Morris before tagging Akam back in.
Authors Of Pain then hits Super Collider follow by neckbreaker/powerbomb combination for the win.

Non Title Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
United States Champion Logan Paul vs. The Miz
Match starts off with a lock up before The Miz hits a shoulder tackle and an atomic drop but Logan Paul ascends to the top rope and hits a crossbody.
Paul plants Miz then hits a leg drop and follows it up with a chop.
Miz fires off chops on Paul in the corner then hits a series of kicks and lands a shoulder on his midsection from the apron.
Paul then hits a crossbody from the top rope to Miz on the apron as we go to a break.
After the break Miz hits a pair of clotheslines to Paul and whips him into the corner then connects with a flatliner but Paul looks to land a splash on him in the corner.
Miz avoids it and plants Paul then hit IT Kicks as Paul looks to escape but Miz pulls him inside. He hangs on to the ring skirt and the referee forces him to release it.
While he’s distracted fixing it Paul rakes Miz’s eyes and follows it up with the Skull Crushing Finale. He goes for a pin but Miz manages to kick out.
Miz then looks to hit Skull Crushing Finale to Paul but Paul blocks it and Miz opts to cinch in Figure 4 but Paul makes it to the bottom rope to break the hold.
The action spills to the outside and Paul continues wearing down Miz.
He spots a pair of brass knuckles from Jeff in the crowd but Miz clocks him from behind before he can use them and tosses them aside.
Paul then plants Miz inside the ring with a modified version of a STF for the win.
Winner & Gets Into The Elimination Chamber Match: United States Champion Logan Paul
We head backstage and see Nick Aldis meeting with NXT Tag Team Champion Bron Breakker & Jade Cargill as Tiffany Stratton was talking trash to Liv Morgan & Bianca BelAir.
Women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying Match
Naomi vs. Alba Fyre
Match starts off with a lock up then Alba Fyre sends Naomi crashing into the mat then sends her crashing into the middle turnbuckle face first.
Naomi lands a kick on Fyre’s head then slaps Fyre’s face and hits a split legged leg drop.
The action spills into the ring and Naomi & Isla Dawn get in one another’s faces.
Naomi sends Fyre crashing into the ring steps face first as we go to a break.
After the break Naomi hits a hurricanrana to Fyre and follows it up with a dropkick.
She follows it up with a Bulldog before she ascends to the top rope and hits a crossbody.
She goes for a pin but Fyre kicks out before Fyre hits a facebuster and Dawn takes a cheap shot at Naomi from the outside. Fyre then goes for a pin but Naomi kicks out.
Fyre looks to connect with a Gory Bomb but Naomi escapes.
She hits an enzuigiri to Dawn on the apron and locks in Feel The Glow for the win.
Winner By Submission & Gets Into The Women’s Elimination Chamber Match: Naomi
We then head backstage and see Dakota Kai beg Bayley for help dealing with Damage CTRL in light of their message earlier tonight. Bayley says she doesn’t know who she can trust and tells Kai she can’t deal with this right now.
Back at ringside Nick Aldis stands on the ramp and announces that he’s officially signed NXT Tag Team Champion Bron Breakker to be a member of the Smackdown roster. Breakker makes his way out and puts pen to paper with a contract. He shakes Aldis’ hand and photographers meet them where they are to take their picture.
Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns tells Salt Lake City to acknowledge him then calls the people of Utah and fans at home dumb. He says when his cousin comes out, people may pay more attention to catchphrases rather than what they’re saying. He says that there’s meaning to everything they say and says tonight is the greatest night in WWE history because it’s the 1st night they can officially say that The Rock is a member of The Bloodline.
The Rock’s music hits and he then makes his way down to the ring. He says before he drops some gospel on fans, he has some good news to share. He says the fans in attendance have broken a record in the state of Utah for the largest gathering of trailer park trash in the state of Utah. He says that the lives of the fans in attendance now have meaning and they will all go home with a story to tell their large families having looked at greatness in the flesh. He says he’s finally come back to Salt Lake City and there’s a new side of The Rock for fans to see. He says that side of him has always been there and fans are seeing it tonight. He says fans had the biggest WrestleMania main event in their hands with him & Reigns facing off but it slipped between their fingers when they started being vocal about wanting to see Cody Rhodes in his place.
The Rock questions what Rhodes’ story is, and says Reigns beat Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania last year. He says there is no logic in Rhodes wanting a rematch after losing to Reigns and says things would be different if it were another sport such as basketball. He says people don’t get a shot at another story because they want it and calls the fans crybaby b*tches. He promises to do everything he can to walk out of WrestleMania as a loser, and says Rhodes’ story is ending while theirs is just beginning then The Bloodline holds up the 1 symbol to close out this week’s Smackdown.
