As PWMania.com previously reported, the main event of WrestleMania 40 was instantly changed in a big way following WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s surprise appearance in the closing moments of this past Friday night’s episode of SmackDown.
“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes was in the middle of the ring and was close to revealing who he would face on The Grandest Stage Of Them All until Rhodes gave up his WrestleMania 40 main event spot and introduced The People’s Champion, which led to a faceoff between Rock and Reigns. This resulted in several members of the WWE Universe reacting negatively to the upcoming blockbuster showdown.
Social media and fans at a recent WWE live event were both upset with the fact that Rock took Rhodes’ spot on The Show Of Shows. The People’s Champion reportedly advocated for this match with The Tribal Chief to happen at WrestleMania because he believed it would be a bigger attraction, and Rock was also reportedly pushing to win the match as it is being seen as a strategic move to bring in more immediate revenue for TKO.
The Rock took to his official Instagram account and posted two separate posts. One of which was his response to the negative reaction from the live audience at a recent house show and the other post was his comments on the criticism from fans regarding him replacing Rhodes at WrestleMania.
