WWE Planning To Break Royal Rumble Record

The build-up to the WWE Royal Rumble premium live event on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Tropicana Field in Tampa, FL, which will air on Peacock, is underway.

CM Punk and Cody Rhodes have already entered the Men’s Royal Rumble match. The winners of the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble matches will receive a title shot of their choice at WrestleMania 40.

Although it has not been confirmed, it appears that Randy Orton will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at the event.

Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio that ticket sales for the Royal Rumble are strong, and that the company is aiming to break the record for the largest Royal Rumble paid attendance. This year’s live gate of $7.3 million in ticket sales and paid attendance of 44,569 set a new record.

”Royal Rumble is doing great in ticket sales. I don’t know the number, but they are projecting a gate of close to $8 million. The largest attendance….I think they’re looking for the largest paid attendance or the second largest. The Alamodome one year ago. They’re looking at 50,000 people for this one. It’s gonna have to be 50,000 sold now, but that’s what they’re hoping for, especially with the announcement of [CM] Punk in the match,” Meltzer stated.
