WWE Senior Vice President Bruce Prichard recently took to an episode of his โSomething To Wrestle Withโ podcast, where he talked about a number of topics including the difference between being over with fans and getting a pop.
Prichard said, โYou have these younger kids that they realize, โWell, when I take a bump, the crowd pops, so I get a reaction. Thatโs a good thing! And if I take more bumps, Iโll get more of a reaction.’โ โAnd they mistake that sometimes for getting over. As the business evolves, youโve got to change with it, and sometimes youโve got to do more things, but there [are] ways to do it safely. There [are ways] to do more by doing less.โ
He also talked about how WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart and Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart were pretty good examples of being over with the fans and not just getting a pop.
โI think Jim [Neidhart] and Bret both were pretty good examples of that.โ โBret would ground you. Bret would set the pace. [He] didnโt do a lot of crazy stuff, but his work was exciting. It was still good because he did it when he needed to do it, and that was the key.โ
