AEW Collision Review – October 21, 2023
Bryan Danielson vs. Andrade El Idolo
Match starts off with a feeling out process to start with neither being able to get very far then Andrade El Idolo can’t get a Gory Stretch as Bryan Danielson slips out & hits a running shoulder. Neither can get much of an advantage so they shake hands instead.
Danielson pulls him into a Bow & Arrow but El Idolo slips out for a Figure 4 attempt before El Idolo takes him into the corner for the exchange of chops but Danielson slips out and fires off the kicks to the chest. Danielson sends him to the floor and hits the running knee off the apron as we take a break.
After the break El Idolo fighting back and dropkicking him off the top rope to the floor follow by a moonsault to the floor but Danielson headbutts him off the top rope then a shotgun dropkick hits El Idolo but he gets away from the LeBell Lock attempt. El Idolo knocks him down again and tries the double moonsault only to hit knees.
LeBell Lock is countered into the Figure 4 but Danielson gets to the rope before the Figure 8 as they get back up and they collide but Danielson hits a kick to the head before the running knee misses and they trade rollups until Danielson crucifixes him for the win.
Winner: Bryan Danielson (Recommend)
After the match respect is shown and El Idolo leaves then the lights go out & once they are back on Malakai Black hits Fade To Black on Danielson before Blackpool Combat Club makes the save.
Darby Allin isn’t worried about what has happened to Nick Wayne and can’t wait to see the special gift for Sting on Dynamite.
Skye Blue vs. Hollywood Haley J
Hollywood Haley J takes Skye Blue down to start this match and hits a running knee to the back before Blue catches her in the corner and hits a powerbomb follow by Code Blue gets the win.
Winner: Skye Blue
Tag Team Match
The Gunns (Austin & Coleton) vs. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum)
The Gunns beat up Truth Magnum to start and throw Turbo Floyd into the same corner before 3:10 To Yuma gets the win.
Winners: The Gunns
After the match the lights go out and we see the Devil in the back.
Backstage TBS Champion Kris Statlander squats Lexy Nair to warm up & International Champion Orange Cassidy is ready too.
Memphis Street Fight
Eddie Kingston vs. Jeff Jarrett
If Jarrett wins Jay Lethal gets a ROH World Title Match.
Eddie Kingston & Jeff Jarrett met in the aisle to start the match as Jay Lethal & Satnam Singh were both unsuccessful in interfering early on before they battled back to a concession stand that was set up near the back as Kingston squirted Jarrett with ketchup & mustard.
The brawl heads to the stage where Jay Lethal cutters Kingston off the stage and through a table as we go to a break.
After the break Kingston & Jarrett battled back to the ring as Jarrett put Kingston through another table during the commercial and began to work on his knee with a lead pipe, a trash can and a bar chair.
Jarrett locks Kingston in a Figure 4 as Kingston attempted to reverse the hold as Lethal attempted Hail To The King but missed. Kingston got in offense on both Lethal & Jarrett before Sonjay Dutt enters the ring.
Kingston took over on Dutt before Karen Jarrett enters so Kingston puts Karen behind Dutt in the corner and chopped Dutt. Jeff attempted to hit Kingston with the guitar but was met with a Spinning Backfist for a near fall that was broken up by Lethal.
Lethal went for Lethal Injection but was blocked and hit with a half & half suplex then Kingston then smashed the guitar over Singh’s head. Jarrett hits The Stroke for a near fall.
Lethal, Dutt, Singh & Karen enters the ring and beat down Kingston & he gets hit with a another The Stroke then Lethal Injection and a chokeslam from Singh to get the win.
Winner: Jeff Jarrett (Since Jarrett won Jay Lethal gets a ROH World Title Match)
Backstage Lexy Nair interviews Trios Champions The Acclaimed & Billy Gunn & Nair noted that they would be defending their Trios Titles at Battle Of The Belts against Matt Menard, Angelo Parker & Daniel Garcia. Max Caster suggested that Nair use a belt on him. Gunn & Anthony Bowens puts Caster in the corner while saying that they have been Trios Champions for 55 days. Bowens noted that their opponents are not on the same page and predicted victory.
Miro vs. Action Andretti
Action Andretti got some brief offense in the opening minute but was flattened by Miro then hits a series of short arm clotheslines and threw Andretti to the outside as the show went to a picture in picture break.
After the break Miro had Andretti in a chin lock before Andretti eventually rebounded with some hope spots. Andretti ducks a charging Miro who fell to the outside.
Andretti met Miro with a running kick as he attempted to climbs back into the ring before diving onto him on the floor.
Miro caught a flying body press and slams Andretti down then went for Game Over but Andretti rolls out and rolls up Miro for a near fall.
Andretti continued on the offense hitting a spinning DDT, a running dropkick and a 450 splash for several near falls.
Andretti went to put Miro up in Torture Rack but couldn’t hold him so Miro knocks Andretti down with a kick and locks in Game Over for the submission win.
Winner By Submission: Miro
Backstage Lexy Nair interviews Matt Menard, Angelo Parker, Daniel Garcia & Anna Jay. Nair asked if the beef was still squashed and Menard spoke of a family breakfast with no dancing. Garcia looks annoyed while Jay ordered them to come with her as they were not doing this on camera again.
Ruby Soho then enters and ran into Parker who was leaving. He said his family was falling apart but after tonight he would be a champion. Soho ordered him to get out of her shot. She said everyone thinks they deserve to be champion but she’s the only one that really deserves it. It was announced that Soho will face Hikaru Shida for the Women’s Title this coming Wednesday on Dynamite.
After the break a La Faccion Ingobernable vignette aired with Rush talking about others getting their opportunities and him being deemed too dangerous. The vignette ended with a To Be Continued graphic.
Eddie Kingston was being attended to backstage. He said that the reason he was making Jay Lethal jump through hoops to get a title shot because he calls a man who’s not his blood uncle. He talked about how Lethal used to love wrestling before he associated himself with Jarrett and Dutt. He said Lethal is no longer a wrestler but is Jeff Jarrett’s little b*tch. He referred to Lethal as Jamar (his real name) and told him not to bring his faction to their match. He also said not to bring his mother and father because his mother will cry. And it will be because deep down, she knows that he deserves beating he will be getting.
Tag Team Match
FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. Bad Thad Brown & Darian Bengtson
The lights went out again and when they came back on Malakai Black had returns then the lights again flickered off and when they came back on, he was joined by Brody King & Buddy Matthews & they attacked FTR and left them laying.
Winners: No One (No Contest)
AEW World Tag Team Titles Match
Ricky Starks & Big Bill (c) vs. Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta)
Ricky Starks & Wheeler Yuta starts this match off with some chain and mat wrestling to start until Big Bill tags in. Bill took over on offense as they worked Yuta over through the picture in picture break.
After the break Yuta attempted the hot tag but Claudio Castagnoli was kicked off the apron by Bill after being distracted by Starks then rams Castagnoli into the ring steps.
Starks & Bill resumed working over Yuta who was finally able to tag in Castagnoli & he cleans house and hit Starks in the corner with a series of short clotheslines.
He threw Starks to the outside and hit both Starks & Bill with running European uppercuts as we go to a final picture in picture break.
After the 2nd break Castagnoli is still on the offensive but Starks tags out to Bill & he hits a big boot for a near fall. Yuta tags in and hits Bill with a flying dropkick while Bill is held by Castagnoli. Yuta attempts a German suplex on Bill but can’t get him up.
Yuta attempts to fight off both Starks & Bill but is eventually overcome. Yuta hits an Angle Slam on Starks and tags out to Castagnoli then Bill attempts a double chokeslam but is counter.
Blackpool Combat Club are about to hit their Swing/Splash combo for the win but House Of Black re emerged and attacked Blackpool Combat Club while referee Rick Knox was distracted by Malakai Black as Starks hits the spear on Yuta for the win.
Winners & Still AEW World Tag Team Champions: Ricky Starks & Big Bill (STILL CHAMPIONS!!!!!)
After the match House Of Black stares down Starks & Bill but ultimately attacks Yuta. Bryan Danielson attempted to make the save but he was overwhelmed by all House Of Black, Starks & Bill. FTR also came out to try to help but they get attacked as well.
Jon Moxley returns & re starts the brawl after BCC & FTR clears HOB, Starks & Bill from the ring, Starks came back in and took finishers from BCC & FTR as HOB & Bill watched on from the stage as the show transitioned to Battle Of The Belts 8.
