In a recent episode of ‘The Wrestling in Film Podcast’, Alex Perry, who directed the new WWE/Peacock documentary ‘ANGLE’, sits down and chats with Humza about telling the unreal story of Kurt Angle. Alex shares how integral the found amateur wrestling footage was to telling Kurt’s story, Kurt’s powerful and in-depth interviews, who would play Kurt in his biopic, interviewing The Rock, his experience working with LA Knight, and much more.
Some quotes from the interview are below:
Why Kurt Was Not Featured in Foxcatcher Films: “Kurt himself will tell you, at the time, his reputation was tarnished. People from the filmmaking world didn’t really want to reach out to Kurt at the time.”
Alex Perry on The Rock: “He’s such a positive force for us in the world, and in the pro wrestling world as well.”
Alex Perry on LA Knight’s Success: “He’s really earned what’s happening right now. That guy has battled and battled, and he just never gave up.”
“That guy makes me really proud to be like, a guy who battles for their art. Because that’s what that guy did – for a long time.”
