Fans hoping to see John Cena in a recently speculated match at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia will be disappointed.
The former WWE Champion is billed for the show before teaming up with LA Knight to face Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso at Fastlane on Saturday. Cena will be at NXT next Tuesday to support Carmelo Hayes against Bron Breakker, who will be backed by The Bloodline’s Paul Heyman.
Based on what he saw on television, Dave Meltzer suspected that WWE was preparing for Cena vs. Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at the Crown Jewel PLE next month.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Cena vs. Reigns is not the planned match.
Meltzer stated, “Although the promos where the Bloodline and Heyman talk of Cena as “the second greatest wrestler of all-time,” with the idea Reigns is the greatest and a play off Cena’s WWE tag line of being the greatest, and Cena also at this point scheduled for Crown Jewel, it was confirmed to us that Reigns vs. Cena is not the match planned for the show.”
