Jade Cargill was signed by WWE in late September 2023, while Adam Copeland (Edge) was signed by AEW in the same month.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, while there will most likely be more movement in both directions, WWE is interested in signing the “key younger talent” from AEW.
According to Meltzer, one WWE executive believes that the situation will be similar to WCW or TNA, when those companies brought in older WWE talent and WWE signed their younger talent.
Meltzer stated, “The claim is that a pipeline has developed and some of the younger AEW stars are already talking about leaving when their deals are up. Even in AEW there are people saying the same thing, that it’s known that people are looking to leave and the hope is that the number is few because the perception of AEW as the AAA league in wrestling (a baseball reference for the top feeder league, not a wrestling reference) would not be good for AEW.”
