Seth Rollins successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.
Rollins defeated Nakamura in the main event of Saturday night’s WWE Payback Premium Live Event to retain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The match was back and forth, but Rollins emerged victorious. Rollins continued his celebration after the match as Nakamura looked on, and then Payback went off the air.
WWE released post-show footage of Nakamura attacking Rollins from behind as he and Adam Pearce walked to the back, as seen in the video below. As officials tried to get Rollins to leave, Nakamura kicked him around. Rollins slowly rose to his feet, but Nakamura grabbed his hair and dragged him to the stage before launching him head-first into the LED board. Nakamura then took a bow and walked to the back of the room while officials attended to Rollins.
On May 27, Rollins defeated AJ Styles in the tournament finals to become the first WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He has worn the strap for 98 days and counting.
According to the post-show angle, Nakamura vs. Rollins will continue.
