AEW President Tony Khan wants to sign some of his biggest stars to new long-term contracts. He most recently signed RUSH to a new contract, and now his attention has shifted to finalizing deals with AEW World Heavyweight Champion MJF and The Elite (Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, and The Young Bucks).

Omega’s contract was set to expire in late January, but AEW extended it for the time he was out with injuries. It’s unclear how much time he has left on his extended leave. It is expected to be up by the end of the year. That time frame is also relevant to Page and The Young Bucks’ contracts.

Omega made it clear in a recent post-Dynamite promo that didn’t air on TV that they would stick together no matter what.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “The prevailing belief is that the Young Bucks, Kenny Omega, and Adam Page are staying [in AEW].”

Meltzer pointed out that the Golden Elite and Blackpool Combat Club handshake was supposed to be broadcast on television.

Meltzer stated, “If that Omega thing was on television with the mention of them sticking together, that’s where so many people believed they were staying and there was no deal.”

No one in the group has said what the line meant, but Meltzer was told by WWE that they thought they had a good chance of signing Omega months ago. That impression, however, “has gone cold, so they do believe he’s staying with AEW.”

Khan’s big offers indicate his hope for increased TV revenue, which will lead to bigger money deals for talent.
