Goodness, gracious, WWE has a knack for coming up with odd-ball pay-per-view event names.
Matt Hardy reflected on one of the more infamous names for a WWE premium live event on the latest episode of his podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” — WWE Great Balls Of Fire.
“I think the general consensus among the talent was, ‘huh?’ whenever they heard Great Balls Of Fire was the name of the event,” Hardy said. “It is what it is.”
He also recalls Vince McMahon liking the name.
“I mean, it’s gotta be, he’s a big Jerry Lee Lewis fan,” he said. “Apparently. Like, not joking. I’m pretty sure he likes that song. He loves that song.”
