CM Punk Was Not A Deal Breaker For AEW In Securing Deal For Collision Show

Due to the altercation with The Elite and an injury he received during his main event match against Jon Moxley, CM Punk has been missing from AEW television since last September.

The Collision show, a weekly two-hour Saturday night prime time series that is set to debut on June 17, will feature Punk as its main star. The show and AEW’s new partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery are anticipated to be revealed next week.

According to rumors, WBD and AEW President Tony Khan both wanted Punk to rejoin the promotion because of the star power he brings to the the company.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW Collision would have taken place even without Punk.

Meltzer wrote, “Someone very familiar with the negotiations of the Collision deal has said that the show would have happened with or without Punk, but absolutely WBD wanted Punk.”

The show’s debut episode will have a distinctive name. Despite their differences, Punk and Colt Cabana might be working in the same locker room.
