The official announcement of AEW Collision, the new show that is expected to premiere next month and will air every Saturday night between 8 and 10 pm Eastern, is less than a week away.
The show will be CM Punk’s primary home, and due to the WBD exclusivity, the Dark and Dark: Elevation tapings have been cancelled. After Dynamite, Rampage will continue to be taped, and ROH, which is not covered by the WBD agreement, will be taped the same night as Collision.
What happens to Colt Cabana, who works as a producer for ROH, is one of the major mysteries. He and CM Punk might share the same locker room on most weeks if he continues in that role. Moving Cabana to Wednesday appears to be the answer in this situation, but no one in AEW is speaking, so it’s unclear what his role is.
Because the Saturday show has not been formally announced, nothing is being said about it by AEW employees, according to Dave Meltzer’s article in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. During Dynamite, Tony Khan stated that an announcement will be made this Wednesday on TNT (likely during the Upfronts). Although he didn’t state it outright, he made a hint that it had to do with the new show.
For those of you who haven’t been following the AEW drama, Cabana and Punk haven’t spoken in years, and their problems were what started the backstage arguments that culminated in the fight last year after All Out. Punk and Cabana reportedly fell out years ago because Cabana met with his friends at WWE while Cabana was suing the company.
