WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray discussed Zelina Vega’s loss to Smackdown women’s champion Rhea Ripley at the 2023 Backlash PLE on Busted Open Radio.
He said, “Saturday night was Zelina Vega’s Wrestlemania, the feel good moment. Her dad obviously passing away in the 911 attacks. How about just giving Zelina the opportunity to take that championship and go to her father’s grave? Just so she can take that championship and go to her dad’s grave where the 911 memorial is. Set that championship down right next to his name, because we all know his name is there at the 911 memorial, and just to take a picture, laying her head on his name with that championship right next to her. If there was ever a time for Rhea to slip on a banana peel, it was that night in Puerto Rico. It was a bit of a missed opportunity in my eyes.”
Fellow Hall of Famer Mark Henry agreed with Bully that it was a “missed moment” by WWE:
“I would’ve had Zelina win. That was the time, even if she had it for one day and got beat and Rhea took it back. The photo shoots, the PWI cover, all of that would’ve happened.”
"What a missed moment."???
