Mercedes Mone has fallen in love with Japan after taking a bet on herself by quitting WWE and signing with NJPW, where she quickly became their biggest star.
At a recent STARDOM event, the former WWE star successfully defended her IWGP Women’s Championship against Hazuki and AZM. She will defend her title against Mayu Iwatani on April 23.
This will be her final match under her current Bushiroad (NJPW/STARDOM) contract. As PWMania.com previously reported, Mone is negotiating a contract extension with the promotion to wrestle another match.
If she does not continue with the company, she has the option of returning to WWE or joining AEW.
Mone announced on Instagram Stories that she is “definitely moving full-time to” Japan and is attending classes to master the Japanese language as she prepares for the next chapter of her life.
