In response to harsh criticism from both fans and wrestlers, Thunder Rosa has opened up about how things were handled during the final months of her reign as the AEW Women’s Champion while she was injured.

Rosa’s reign as champion was even the subject of AEW All Access episodes, where Britt Baker criticized Rosa for being able to travel for personal appearances but avoiding AEW events.

Baker isn’t the only person to have questioned whether Rosa actually had a back injury; Toni Storm also did so in September. Tony Khan made the decision not to immediately vacate the belt.

Rosa revealed during her appearance on Busted Open Radio that she is still dealing with back pain. She reminded fans that although it wasn’t her decision, she had wanted to give up the title the day they told her she couldn’t wrestle. She stated that she wanted to make the title fair for everyone else in the locker room.

Since February, Rosa has been traveling again with AEW and assisting the Spanish broadcast crew. Since getting back on the road, she admitted, she has apologized to the locker room.

“We got to respect the people that are now representing the company. I’m representing the company in a different manner. I have talked to the locker room and I took accountability for things that some people had issues with and I went out there and apologized. And that’s the best thing that I can do because I want to make money, I want to make sure that I am able to work with everyone regardless of if we have any issues or not.”

Rosa also mentioned that she hadn’t received a medical clearance to compete and that her recovery had recently taken a setback. She has every intention of getting back into the ring, though.

Rosa has our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
