On the second night of WWE WrestleMania 39, Edge defeated Finn Balor, who competed as his Demon character, in a Hell in a Cell match.

The WWE Hall of Famer had discussed his upcoming retirement from the wrestling industry for a second time in interviews prior to the match. Although there are currently no high-profile live events scheduled in Toronto, he had previously stated that he wanted to compete in his final match there.

He has also said that he would prefer to call it quits at a Toronto show than at WrestleMania 40 next year because he began wrestling there and wants to call it quits permanently.

According to Dave Meltzer’s report in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Christian has expressed interest in participating in one more tag team match or running with Edge in WWE, though this depends on the status of his contract with AEW.

Meltzer stated, “Behind-the-scenes, there was talk of Edge and Christian wanting to team together for one last time or run, but we don’t know Christian’s contract length and if it would be possible.”

Early in 2020, Edge agreed to a three-year contract worth $3 million annually, with time added on for time lost due to injuries.

AEW President Tony Khan did make Edge an offer before he returned to WWE, but out of respect, Edge wanted to give Vince McMahon a chance to counter, which he did.
