Ava (aka Simone Johnson) will make her WWE NXT in-ring debut later this month at Stand & Deliver.
This week’s NXT featured The Schism vs. Chase University Great Debate, moderated by NXT Level Up commentator Blake Howard. Tyler Bate, representing Chase U, challenged The Schism to a match at Stand & Deliver. Joe Gacy declined the challenge until Duke Hudson stated that the match would be for control of Chase U.
The Schism’s Gacy, Ava, Rip Fowler, and Jagger Reid will face Bate and Chase U’s Hudson, Thea Hail, and Andre Chase in an eight-person mixed tag team match. The winners will take over Chase University.
Ava Johnson, the oldest daughter of WWE Legend Dwayne “The Rock,” has impressed with her mic work since joining The Schism on the October 25, 2022 episode of NXT. She has yet to wrestle, but she made her debut with an in-ring promo at the NXT live event in Orlando on July 9, 2022.
WWE announced in February 2020 that Ava was training at the Performance Center. Later in May 2020, it was announced that she had signed a WWE contract. It was reported in May 2021 that The Great One’s daughter was making progress at the Performance Center as the most-improved developmental talent in squats from January to May of that year. In September 2020, she had her third knee surgery.
The 2023 NXT Stand & Deliver Premium Live Event is set for Saturday, April 1 at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena. To accommodate viewing of WrestleMania 39 Night 1, the show will begin at 1pm ET.
