Mercedes Mone’s time in NJPW could be coming to an end soon after she made her promotional debut in January at WrestleKingdom in the Tokyo Dome to challenge KAIRI for the IWGP Women’s Championship.
Mone made her ring debut last month, winning the IWGP Women’s Championship at Battle in the Valley.
Next month, she will make her first title defense against AZM at NJPW Sakura Genesis. Mone will also make her STARDOM debut on the STARDOM All-Star Grand Queendom show on April 23, as previously reported.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, “as of right now, Mercedes Mone has no dates left with Bushiroad [NJPW’s parent company] after the 4/23 Yokohama Arena show.”
Meltzer added that if Mercedes wins, it means she reached an agreement with NJPW for a longer deal.
It’s possible that Mone will leave NJPW and join AEW, but if that happens, she’ll be able to return to NJPW whenever she wants.
Mone told TMZ Sports earlier this month, “I’m putting the offer on the table for the list to see who’s next. I want to see who’s ready for Mercedes Mone because I turn down for nobody. I’m always here for the check. I’m always here for the bag, and whoever has the biggest bag is where I’m gonna go.”
