AEW Registers Trademark for New Tag Team Name

The trademark rights to “SAP” have been secured by AEW.

The company applied for the term on December 19 with The United States Patent and Trademark Office under the entertainment services classification. The following is the description:

“Mark For: SAP™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of conducting entertainment exhibitions in the nature of wresting exhibits and performances by professional wrestlers; Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of development, creation, production, distribution, and post-production of television shows; Entertainment services in the nature of live wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of wrestling programs and wrestling multimedia entertainment event content; Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of wrestling; Fan clubs; Providing a website featuring entertainment information in the fields of wrestling, sports, and entertainment; Providing entertainment information in the fields of wrestling, sports, and entertainment via a website; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.”

Tony Schiavone announced on this week’s episode of AEW Dark that Serpentico, Angelico, and Luther would now be known as the S.A.P.

Angelico and Serpentico are members of AEW’s Spanish announce team, so S.A.P stands for Spanish Announce Project. Serpentico and Luther have already formed the Chaos Project tag team.

The AEW team received some criticism because there is already a Spanish Announce Team in wrestling, which was founded in 2000. Serpentico and Angelico, according to S.A.T. member Jose Maximo, are a “bunch of marks trying to benefit from our gimmick and name.”
