On the December 5 episode of RAW, Matt Riddle was written off WWE television after being viciously attacked by the Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa. He also exited the arena in an ambulance.
The attack followed an unsuccessful attempt to win the Undisputed Tag Team Championships with Kevin Owens.
As PWMania.com previously reported, the angle was created as a result of Riddle failing a second drug test earlier this year, with the expectation that he would go to rehab. Riddle previously violated the company’s wellness policy over the summer, which resulted in his match against Seth Rollins being moved from SummerSlam to the Clash at the Castle.
Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that “one source close to Riddle denied the story saying he was taking time off because of pressure of going through a divorce.”
WWE has confirmed that Riddle will be off the air for six weeks, but has not commented on his failure to pass two drug tests or his admission to rehab.
