AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS (12/7/2022)
This week’s show kicks off with the usual opening show theme music and accompanying video and then we shoot inside the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas where the commentators welcome us to the show.
William Regal Health Update After MJF Attack
From there, we head down to the squared circle for our opening action here on this week’s show. The camera pans the venue and then the commentators remind us of the attack to William Regal from MJF on last week’s show.
The commentators give the update whileshowing the images of the Blackpool Combat Club leader being stretchered into an ambulance following the beat down. They mention that Bryan Danielson is still in the hospital with Regal now.
Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale
Now the theme for Ricky Starks hits and he makes his way out. He settles inside and his music dies down. Now the theme for Jungle Boy plays and he makes his way to the ring. The Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale kicks off this week’s AEW Dynamite on TBS.
Dustin Rhodes’ theme also plays and he makes his way out. This fills the ring with the competitors for the fourth annual Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale. The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this opening contest.
We see camera shots of different pairs of wrestlers duking it out in various parts of the ring. Orange Cassidy is nearly thrown out by Kip Sabian, however he skins the cat. He isn’t back in the match though because The Butcher and The Blade end up eliminating him.
The commentators put over the significance of someone of the caliber of Orange Cassidy already being eliminated from the match. We see The Butcher beating on Dustin Rhodes as “The Natural” stands on the ring apron on the outside of the ring ropes.
Dustin fights him off as long as he can, but a big lariat from The Butcher ends up knocking him down to the floor and eliminating him. Dalton Castle is nearly eliminated by Brian Cage.
Instead, “The Boys” who accompany Castle to the ring are at ringside and they catch him over-and-over again, crowd-surfing style, and help him back into the ring. This happens over and over again but eventually “The Machine” manages to eliminate him anyways.
After that, we see Jungle Boy set his sights on the former Team Taz member. He works Cage over and eventually scores the elimination, tossing Cage over the top and out to the floor. As soon as Cage’s elimination takes place, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
When we return from the break, we see Starks battling it out with Butcher. He ends up spearing him to eliminate him, Jungle Boy Jack Perry ends up getting eliminated soon thereafter thanks to Lee Moriarty. Afterwards, he is attacked by W. Morrissey and Lee Moriarty on the floor at ringside.
Following a couple of additional eliminations, we’re down to Ethan Page, Shawn Dean, Matt Hardy and Ricky Starks. Page is starting to boss Hardy around, which is starting to get under the skin of the wrestling legend.
He tells him to eliminate Shawn Dean. He doesn’t, so Page does himself and then resumes scolding Hardy. The fans chant “Delete! Delete!” as he and Page start to duke it out.
Hardy looks for the Twist of Fate, however Page avoids it and dumps Hardy over the top-rope and out to the floor for the elimination. We’re down to the final two now. “All Ego” Ethan Page and “Absolute” Ricky Starks waste no time getting after it.
After about a half of a minute of back-and-forth action, we see Starks secure the elimination, tossing Page out to the floor. With the elimination, Starks is the last man standing and is now the fourth annual Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale winner.
Winner of the fourth annual Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale: Ricky Starks
“Maxi-Pad” MJF & “The Pebble” Ricky Starks Verbally Duke It Out
As soon as the bell sounds and Ricky Starks is announced the winner, the theme for Maxwell Jacob Friedman plays instead. On that note, AEW World Champion MJF makes his way down to the ring.
The commentators talk about how MJF couldn’t let Starks have his moment and criticize him for stealing the spotlight from “Absolute.” MJF then goes on to deliver a quick message to Bryan Danielson.
MJF says he heard that “The American Dragon” isn’t here tonight because he is scared to death of him. He then turns his attention to Starks, whom he calls a “Dollar store Dwayne.”
He throws a few additional insults about how Starks’ persona feels familiar to that of WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He tells Starks that from now on he’s going to start referring to him as “The Pebble.”
Friedman then continues, saying he’s gonna beat Starks with ease and when he’s done with him, he’s gonna send him down to the National Wrestling Alliance to work for Billy Corgan. He promises that his “reign of terror has just begun.”
Starks gets on the mic and calls MJF “Maxi-Pad,” and then refers to him as a “fifth-rate Roddy Piper.” He then mocks MJF for going after all the low-hanging fruit by insulting the city and taking every other easy route possible.
“Absolute” Ricky keeps at it, verbally tearing into MJF in what is likely his best microphone work thus far in AEW. Almost like he saved his real mic skills for when the time counts, and just relied on general charisma until now.
As the post-match promo segment continues, Starks talks about being around and busting his ass week-in and week-out, month-in and month-out. He says MJF can’t say the same, likely because he doesn’t feel he’s paid enough money.
Starks says a lot of responsibility comes with people actually liking him. He mocks MJF’s nose and then says he knows nothing about living with dignity and respect. He mentions living in his car and grinding it out until he got the opportunities necessary to prove his worth.
He takes a few more shots at the AEW Champion and then closes by saying next week is a big deal. He says MJF doesn’t deserve this, but he does. He says YouTube — he’s been there and done that.
Ricky Starks vows to smack the mole off MJF’s neck and stomp his asshole en route to capturing the AEW Championship from him. He says he’s gonna do him a favor that no one has ever done for him in his life.
The fourth annual Dynamite Diamond Ring Battle Royale winner closes with his final line and then MJF blasts him with a cheap, low-blow kick to the downstairs region. The fans boo.
MJF puts the Dynamite Diamond Ring on and waits for Starks to get up. When he does, he charges at MJF, who misses with the ring and falls victim to Starks’ spear. Starks picks the AEW Championship up and holds it high as his music plays to end what was an absolutely epic promo segment.
Jon Moxley With A Message For “Hangman” Adam Page & Others
We hear a quick word from Darby Allin backstage before heading to a commercial break. Once he finishes, we head to the break, with Allin challenging Samoa Joe for the TNT Championship when we return.
When we return, Jon Moxley talks about how he respects the fact that someone used a punch to the face to get things done, noting there isn’t enough of that around AEW. He has some words for “Hangman” Adam Page and anyone else on his radar before wrapping up.
TNT Championship
Samoa Joe (C) vs. Darby Allin
Now we head back inside the H-E-B Center where the familiar sounds of Darby Allin’s theme hits. The challenger makes his way to the ring and settles inside as his theme dies down.
We hear the entrance tune of “The King of TV” and this brings out the reigning TNT and ROH TV Champion for his defense of his TNT Championship here in this one-on-one contest.
The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this title contest here on AEW Dynamite. As the action gets started, things get going with a bang. Allin uses his body as a weapon as always, but Joe ends up enduring the early onslaught attempt from the charismatic star.
Joe quickly takes over from there and he begins a savage beat down of Allin on the floor at ringside. He tears up some of the mats at ringside and continues the assault, with the commentators questioning if he is trying to successfully defend his TNT Championship or end the career of Darby Allin.
On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues. When we return from the break, we see Allin fighting from underneath and eventually into the offensive lead.
He connects with his Coffin Drop finisher but Joe hangs on. Allin gets in some more offense, capping off the sequence with a big Code Red spot that connects. He goes for another pin, but again Joe kicks out before the count of three.
Darby Allin struggles to find a way to finish off “The King of TV” as he continues his offensive assault on the TNT and ROH TV Champion. He has Joe down again and heads to the top-rope.
He leaps backwards with another Coffin Drop, however this time he lands back-first right into the waiting choke-finisher of Joe. Joe eventually gets the submission for the win to retain his TNT Championship. Great match.
Winner and STILL TNT Champion: Samoa Joe
Samoa Joe’s Attack On Darby Allin Continues, Wardlow Makes The Save
Once the match wraps up, we see that Samoa Joe isn’t done with him just yet. He takes Allin’s trademark skateboard and turns the wheels right-side-up. He gets Allin up in his Muscle Buster finisher and slams him down right on the wheels of his skateboard.
He then locks in his choke-finisher again and squeezes the life out of Allin as officials rush the ring and try and break things up. Eventually, Wardlow’s theme hits and out comes the former TNT Champion.
Wardlow hits the ring to make the save and Joe runs off and heads to the back as Wardlow stares him down from the top-rope. That’s how the post-match scene wraps up.
Tony Schiavone Talks To Orange Cassidy & Kip Sabian
Now we head backstage where Tony Schiavone is standing by with AEW All-Atlantic Champion “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy and Kip Sabian.
The two talk about a match but when it’s mentioned that it won’t be the match, it is asked who will be fighting on AEW Rampage this Friday night on TNT. We head to a commercial break without getting an answer to that question.
Once this quick backstage segment wraps up, we head to another commercial break as this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite continues.
Chris Jericho Vows Victory At ROH Final Battle On Saturday
After a quick video segment with “The Ocho” Chris Jericho promoting his ROH Championship showdown against Claudio Castagnoli at this Saturday’s ROH Final Battle 2022 pay-per-view.
The J.A.S. leader vows to win and make Castagnoli join the Jericho Appreciation Society, we head back inside the H-E-B Center for our next match of the evening.
Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta vs. Jake Hager & Daniel Garcia
We settle back inside the venue in Cedar Park, Texas where the familiar sounds of Claudio Castagnoli’s theme music hits. He makes his way down to the ring, along with his tag-team partner for this advertised two-on-two showdown — Wheeler Yuta.
The two settle inside the ring and now the theme for Jake Hager and Daniel Garcia plays. The two Jericho Appreciation Society members make their way into the ring and their music wraps up.
Now the bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. After jumping into an early offensive lead, we see the duo of Castagnoli and Yuta start to slip into the defensive mode.
Hager and Garcia use some cheap heel tactics to shift the momentum into their favor. With Jon Moxley in the corner of the baby face duo, we see Yuta slow down the momentum of Hager and Garcia.
We see Yuta take the ROH Pure Champion to the top-rope and connecting with a superplex. After that, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues in this exciting, hard-hitting tag-team contest.
When we return from the break, we see Garcia and Yuta still in the ring, duking it out. Neither man has a clean offensive advantage, as each man takes turns delivering big shots to the other.
Finally, the two end up making it to their respective corners where they each make the tag. Castagnoli and Hager each come in, but it is Claudio who is quick to resume ownership of the offensive driver’s seat.
Castagnoli takes the big man off the top-rope the hard way and then follows that up by providing an assist for Yuta’s high body splash off the top. Castagnoli grabs Hager’s legs and sends him on the “Big Swing” as the fans go wild in Cedar Park.
The finish seems imminent, but instead, we see Sammy Guevara of the J.A.S. try to get involved. Jon Moxley, who is still at ringside in the corner of his fellow Blackpool Combat Club members, prevents him from being a factor.
Moments later, Castagnoli hits a big running uppercut after reversing an ankle lock attempt from Hager. Castagnoli and Yuta pick up the win.
Winners: Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta
William Regal’s Special Message Prior To MJF Attack
We shoot backstage where Tony Schiavone is standing by with William Regal in a video interview recorded in the AEW Dynamite interview zone two weeks ago prior to the attack from MJF that hospitalized him on last week’s show.
Regal says if anyone is watching this, it means something bad happened to him. He says when you’re as evil as he has been and do as many bad things as he has done throughout his career. you always expect something bad to happen to you.
He gets down to his message, which is a quick message to Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson and Wheeler Yuta and how everyone in the Blackpool Combat Club needs to continue to share their wisdom with Yuta and help him become the best in the business.
When that wraps up, Schiavone is live with Moxley, who asks for his reaction. He quickly reacts and then vows that soon around here they’re going to show pro wrestling in a whole new light.
Quick Word From The House Of Black
Now we shoot to a quick message from The House of Black. They talk about the crime being treason and how the punishment will be felt.
“Come one, come all” the group consisting of Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews and Julia Hart concludes. After this, we head to another commercial break.
Jamie Hayter Offers Title Shot To Shida-Bunny Winner
When we return from the break, we see Tony Schiavone seated next to Jamie Hayter. He begins his advertised one-on-one, sit-down discussion with the new AEW World Women’s Champion.
Hayter says if Britt Baker, Saraya and others deserve sit-down discussions featured on AEW programming, so does she. She then goes on to make an announcement.
She says whoever wins the upcoming women’s showdown between Hikaru Shida and The Bunny on AEW Rampage this coming Friday night will earn a shot at her title and she will prove that she is a fighting champion.
Jade Cargill, Leila Grey & Red Velvet vs. Madison Rayne, Skye Blue & Kiera Hogan
On that note, Schiavone and Hayter wrap up their discussion and we head back inside the venue. The theme hits to bring our first team to the ring in what is scheduled to be an AEW Trios women’s showdown.
The team of Madison Rayne, Skye Blue and Kiera Hogan are already in the ring awaiting the arrival of their three opponents for this three-on-three women’s contest here on AEW Dynamite.
Now we hear the familiar sounds of the undefeated TBS Women’s Champion, Jade Cargill. “That B*tch” emerges accompanied by her tag-team partners for this one, Leila Grey and Red Velvet from “The Baddies.”
With all six ladies in the ring and ready for action, the bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. As The Baddies settle into an offensive lead, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
After we return from the break, we see the babyface trio attempt a comeback, only to be cut short. The Baddies help Cargill ride this one out to the finish, which sees the TBS Women’s Champion and “The Baddies” pick up the “W.”
Winners: Jade Cargill, Leila Grey & Red Velvet
AEW Tag-Team Championships
The Acclaimed (C) vs. FTR
Now it’s time for tag-team title action here in the main event of this week’s AEW Dynamite. The challengers, FTR, who themselves are the reigning AAA, IWGP and ROH Tag-Team Champions, make their way to the ring.
The fans in Cedar Park give the duo of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler a huge pop as the two settle inside the ring and their theme music dies down.
We hear the familiar sounds of The Acclaimed’s theme song and out comes the reigning and defending AEW Tag-Team Champions ready for this big-fight-feel main event with the gold on-the-line.
Max Caster does his freestyle rap gimmick on the way to the ring, throwing a few disses out at Herschel Walker and others and then he settles in the ring with Anthony Bowens.
As the bell sounds to get this one off-and-running, we hear the fans inside the H-E-B Center break out into a loud “Oh, scissor-me daddy!” chant. We see some good back-and-forth action coming out of the gate as both teams are taking turns in the offensive driver’s seat in the early goings.
As the team of FTR start to pull ahead into a comfortable lead, connecting with a big slingshot spot, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the main event of the evening continues.
When we return from the break, we see Harwood and Wheeler hanging onto their offensive lead, taking it to Caster until he finally makes the tag to Bowens. Bowens hits the ring and works over Harwood for a bit, but then the two both end up down and out on the mat.
Harwood starts to take over from there, grabbing onto a German suplex and connecting. He holds on and turns it into a second one in a row. He rolls up Bowens after a collision of heads momentarily stuns one-half of The Acclaimed.
Bowens finds himself on the wrong end of a spiked pile driver from FTR. Taz mentions on commentary how he suffered a broken neck by being on the receiving end of that same move during his days in the original ECW.
We see Bowens manage to hang on after FTR attempts a pin following the spiked pile driver spot. Bowens finally buys himself enough time to make the much-needed tag to Caster. Caster comes in and hits a big spot for a near fall, but Harwood hangs on and keeps this match alive.
Finally, Harwood and Wheeler connect with their Big Rig featured spot. Harwood goes for the follow-up pin attempt on Caster, only for Bowens to jump in and break it up just in time.
Now we see Harwood hoist up Caster, who is still rocked from taking the Big Rig. He sits him on the top-rope. Caster fights his way free and knocks him down. He leaps for his Mic Drop finisher, but no one is home when he lands.
We finally work our way to the finish of this one, which see Caster and Bowens work their way to the pin fall victory. With the win, The Acclaimed retain their AEW Tag-Team Championships in what was an excellent main event on this week’s show.
Once the match wraps up, we hear The Gunn Club — Austin and Colten Gunn on the big screen. They address the champs in the ring and then turn their attention to “Dem Boys.” It will be The Gunn Club vs. FTR in a double dog-collar match.
On that note, that’s how this week’s show wraps up. The commentators thank us for tuning in and then we fade off the air. Thanks for joining us!
Winners and STILL AEW Tag-Team Champions: The Acclaimed
