WWE Working on Bianca Belair and Montez Ford Show, WWE Talent Search in Africa, WWE Netflix Series Update

WWE Co-CEO Nick Khan revealed details on three new TV projects the company is working on through WWE Studios during this week’s Q3 2022 earnings call.

WWE’s talent recruiters will travel to Nigeria next week to begin the process of finding talent for the African continent. There is no word on whether this will be broadcast elsewhere, but the project will coincide with the major Showmax TV deal announced this week for Africa’s Sub-Saharan region.

The Spanish-language comedy series “Contra Las Cuerdas (Against The Ropes)” will premiere on Netflix in the first quarter of 2023. The 10-episode series will centre on a Mexican aspiring female luchador. WWE Studios serves as the series’ executive producers. The scripted series was first reported in April of this year to air only in Mexico, but this was not mentioned on the Q3 call. WWE is excited to be collaborating with the streaming giant to expand their international footprint with the original series, according to Khan.

A new series about Montez Ford and RAW Women’s Champion Bianca Belair will also be produced by WWE Studios. The first season will consist of 8 episodes following a husband and wife couple and will premiere on Hulu in 2023. The first season is currently in the works.
