It’s Wednesday night, and you know what that means …
All Elite Wrestling returns from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia for this week’s edition of the weekly two-hour AEW on TBS television program, AEW Dynamite.
On tap for tonight’s AEW Dynamite is Bryan Danielson vs. Sammy Guevara, Jamie Hayter vs. Riho, FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) vs. Swerve In Our Glory (Shane “Swerve” Strickland & Keith Lee) in a title eliminator, The Jericho Appreciation Society (Chris Jericho & Daniel Garcia) vs. Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta), as well as the latest from MJF and a main event of Jon Moxley (c) vs. Penta El Zero M for the AEW World Title.

AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS (10/26/2022)
This week’s show kicks off with the usual theme song and accompanying video and then we shoot inside the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, VA.
We hear the commentators welcome us to the show and then we shoot down to the ring for our opening action.
Chris Jericho & Daniel Garcia vs. Claudio Castagnoli vs. Wheeler Yuta
From there, the commentators run down the lineup for tonight and send us to Justin Roberts, who begins the introductions for our opening contest, which features Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia taking on Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta in tag-team action.
“The Ocho” and Garcia from the J.A.S. make their way out and Tony Schiavone points out that Jericho has Floyd the baseball bat with him for this one. Out next, accompanied by William Regal, is Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta from the Blackpool Combat Club.
Regal heads to the ring while Castagnoli and Yuta make their way to the ring for our opening contest. The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with our first match of the evening here on AEW Dynamite.
Castagnoli and Jericho go face to face to start this one off. Jericho quickly tags out and in comes Garcia. Castagnoli handles him early on and then tags in Yuta, who picks up where he left off, taking it to the J.A.S. member.
We see Castagnoli working over Jericho in a hold with elbows while Yuta does the same with Garcia right next to him. As this is going on, Jake Hager gets involved. Yuta and Garcia continue the action as the legal men in the ring and then Castagnoli tags in and works over Garcia with some follow-up offense.
As Castagnoli continues to dominate, we see Jericho tag in. He beats on the leader of the J.A.S. as well until finally Hager hops on the apron to provide the distraction again.
While that is going on, we see Jericho hit a well-timed leap off the middle rope in the corner for a dropkick that connects on Castagnoli on the apron outside of the ropes. After this spot, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
When we return from the break, we see Garcia working over Castagnoli in the ring just as the former ROH Champion starts to shift the momentum into his favor. He hits a big suplex on Garcia that buys him some time.
He goes to make the tag but Jericho runs across and knocks out Yuta so he has no one to tag. He goes for a Codebreaker attempt but Claudio avoids it. Jericho goes for the Walls of Jericho but he avoids that, too.
Castagnoli blasts Jericho with a big shot and this buys him some time to make the move to his corner where he finally makes the much-needed tag to Yuta. The fans in Norfolk pop big for Yuta and chant his name upon him getting the hot tag.
Yuta comes into the ring off the top-rope with a big splash into a near fall attempt. He knocks Garcia out to the floor and then hoists Jericho up for a big slam into a pin attempt for another close two count.
We see the action continue in the ring. Jericho hits a codebreaker for a near fall. Yuta then hits a big running flipping splash to the floor, taking out Garcia and the team of Matt Menard and Angelo Parker. Claudio then hoists Garcia over his shoulders and does the spin to Jericho while holding Garcia on his back as well. The crowd gives that a standing ovation.
Castagnoli continues hitting high spots all over the ring and at ringside to keep the crowd on fire straight into the finish, which sees him score the pin fall on Jericho in the center of the ring. Very, very good opening match here on this week’s Dynamite.

Blackpool Combat Club Business Backstage
Bryan Danielson talks to Renee Paquette about being frustrated over losing his ROH title opportunity. He says the same about his issues with Daniel Garcia and Wheeler Yuta talking back to him. He vows to take his frustrations out on Sammy Guevara and “his stupid video blogs.”
As he finishes talking, up walks Wheeler Yuta, who gets in Danielson’s face. The two argue and even throw shots at each other. Claudio Castagnoli breaks them up and William Regal helps. They mention it being Yuta’s birthday.
He says after Danielson beats the crap outta Sammy later, they’re going to sit down and discuss this like adults. They seem to agree begrudgingly before walking off to end the segment.
Jericho Appreciation Society Business
We return from another commercial break to the entire Jericho Appreciation Society talking with Tony Schiavone backstage. Jericho issues a challenge to any former ROH Champion for next week and also mentions how he’s no longer limiting himself to just former ROH Champions when making defenses of the title in the future.
Sammy Guevara closes the segment by vowing to beat Bryan Danielson’s ass — again.
AEW Tag-Team Title Eliminator
Swerve In Our Glory vs. FTR
We see former AEW World Tag-Team Champions Swerve In Our Glory — Keith Lee and Shane “Swerve” Strickland making their way to the ring for our next match, which is an AEW World Tag-Team Title Eliminator for the next shot at the current champions, The Acclaimed.
They settle into the ring and then the theme hits to bring out FTR, who get rock star reactions from the Norfolk crowd. The AAA and IWGP and ROH Tag-Team Champions — Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler — making their way out and down to the squared circle.
Before they can start the match, the theme for the reigning AEW World Tag-Team Champions, The Acclaimed, hits. Out comes Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, who do the scissor gimmick with two chairs. They open them and along with “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn, take a seat at the top of the entrance area to watch this match.
Now the bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this high-stakes tag-team contest. We see Strickland and Wheeler kicking things off for their respective teams.
We see some great back-and-forth action early on, all-the-while The Acclaimed and The Gunn Club, who are in the front row, are shown reacting at various points.
Both teams hit a number of incredible spots and then build to the finish, which saw Swerve in our Glory score the pin fall in another extremely good match here on this week’s show.

Saraya & Britt Baker Bicker With Renee Paquette
We shoot backstage and see Saraya and Renee Paquette laughing and talking about reuniting in AEW of all places. As they continue to banter back-and-forth in comes Dr. Britt Baker.
She and Saraya immediately start bickering with each other and Paquette breaks up the verbal sparring match, telling them if they’re gonna talk about things they need to do it properly. We head to a commercial break after that.
“The Devil” MJF Talks With Renee Paquette
We return from the break and the commentators send things down to Renee Paquette who brings out her guest at this time, MJF. He comes out to a big pop and then says “The Devil” is in the house. He asks if there are any devil worshippers in the house and everyone cheers again.
Paquette then asks him about his upcoming title shot against current AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. MJF then does a spot-on strut around-promo style impression of Mox and asks, “That guy?” He then brings up his recent on-air chat with William Regal.
He brings up Regal claiming he doesn’t think MJF can beat Jon Moxley without his Dynamite Diamond Ring. He says he vows to not use the ring in their title showdown at the upcoming AEW Full Gear 2022 pay-per-view on November 19 in Newark, New Jersey — “The Devil’s” backyard.
MJF vows to take the chip off his shoulder and shove it down the throats of everyone and win the title at Full Gear. He says he’s a generational talent and before he can finish his catchphrase, out comes Stokely Hathaway interrupting him.
Now MJF responds and says he wants Mox 100% at Full Gear and tells him not to go near him during his title defense against Penta El Zero Miedo later tonight — or he’s fired. He then finishes his “super over catchphrase” to end another excellent MJF promo segment on AEW TV.
Wardlow & Matt Taven Hype Rampage Battle
We shoot to a vignette from The Kingdom. Matt Taven and Mike Bennett request a title shot and then in the same video package, we hear a response from WarJoe. Wardlow and Matt Taven will be going one-on-one this coming Friday night on AEW Rampage.
Sammy Guevara vs. Bryan Danielson
It’s time for another great match-up, as “The Spanish God” makes his way out. Sammy Guevara comes out accompanied by Tay Melo. The duo do their dip-and-make-out session before heading to the ring for this scheduled singles match.
Now the Blackpool Combat Club member Bryan Danielson makes his way out. “The American Dragon” heads to the ring for what should be another tremendous match here on this week’s Dynamite.
William Regal heads to join in on special guest commentary for this match and then the bell sounds to get this one off-and-running. Guevara blasts Danielson with a running knee right out of the gate and then goes to work on him in the corner.
Things continue to go well for Guevara early on. He hits a big cutter off the ropes and goes for the cover, getting a solid two-count at this early point in the match. He hoists Danielson up for a back-breaker or GTH but Danielson escapes and starts to fire up on offense himself.
We see Danielson trip up and work over the leg of Guevara on the mat, locking him in a surfboard-type submission hold that the commentators put over strong on the broadcast.
Danielson beats down Guevara some more in the ring before sending him out to the floor with a vengeance, where he proceeds to hit a big spot before Guevara hits one of his own.
Guevara hits a crazy spot off the ropes onto Danielson on the floor after that and on that note, we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
After we return from the break, we see Guevara still in control of the action but after a while, all the shots he lands only seem to piss off “The American Dragon.” Danielson finally begins firing up and he starts to take over on offense.
Things continue until Danielson locks Guevara in the LeBelle Lock. Somehow Guevara avoids being finished and he makes it to the ropes, forcing the hold to be broken. Guevara then takes over and connects with a wild Spanish Fly spot off the top-rope for a razor close near fall.
Guevara starts to bite away at the forehead of Danielson before hoisting him up for the GTH. Danielson ends up countering it and then hops on Guevara’s shoulders for a reverse hurricanrana. The fans clap and cheer on Danielson as he stalks Guevara before hitting with the running knee.
Danielson grabs both of Sammy’s hands and then stomps the piss out of him as the fans chant “Yes!” with each one that lands. Danielson then rolls into a triangle choke and elbows the crap outta Sammy. The referee takes a closer look and calls it off. Danielson wins another great match here on tonight’s show.
Winner: Bryan Danielson
Orange Cassidy Gets Three-Way Dance Set For Next Week’s Title Defense
Renee Paquette talks backstage with Rey Fenix and Alex Abrahantes, both of whom strongly praise their partner, Penta El Zero Miedo, ahead of his AEW World Championship showdown against Jon Moxley on tonight’s show.
As they continue talking, they mention Rey Fenix should go for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship. When they say that line, in comes Christian Cage and Luchasaurus. He mentions that his monster deserves the title opportunity more than him.
Finally, in comes Orange Cassidy, who stops and asks, “Ya’ll two talkin’ bout me?” He then offers an opportunity to both of them for a three-way dance next week with the AEW All-Atlantic Championship on-the-line. That ends the backstage segment and then we head to another commercial break.
Jamie Hayter vs. Riho
When we return from the break, Jamie Hayter’s theme hits and out she comes to the ring accompanied by Dr. Britt Baker and Rebel for this one-on-one women’s contest here on AEW Dynamite.
The commentators point out the “Hayter’s Section” in the crowd as they settle inside the squared circle. Now the theme for Riho hits and the former AEW Women’s Champion heads to the ring as well.
The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. Hayter jumps off to a quick start, gaining the early offensive advantage. Things don’t stay this way for long, as Riho takes over. Britt Baker grabs her boot from ringside, trying to switch the momentum, but Riho shakes it off and hits a big high spot onto Hayter on the floor.
Riho continues to work over Hayter on the floor but eventually the numbers game disadvantage she quickly finds herself in ends up resulting in Hayter taking over control of the offensive driver’s seat.
As the action resumes in the ring with Hayter in control of things, we head to a mid-match commercial break while the bout continues. We see some more back-and-forth action upon returning from the break, Baker once again gets involved from ringside.
Riho kicks Baker and then walks into a big shot from Hayter. Riho ends up hitting Code Red for a near fall but this one continues. Riho hits a big dragon suplex and goes for the cover again but again only gets two for her efforts.
In the end, we see this one wrap-up after Hayter blasts Riho with a vicious lariat for the pin fall victory.
Winner: Jamie Hayter
Eddie Kingston Gives His Prediction For Tonight’s Main Event
Eddie Kingston is in the interview zone with Renee Paquette. He fakes a big “Colgate smile” and pretends to be fine despite everything that has gone on with he and his friends the last few weeks.
He tells Penta that he’s his man and all but he predicts Jon Moxley will win tonight’s main event title match. “And everyone else — leave me alone.” He thanks Paquette and we end the quick segment on that note.
Darby Allin Isn’t Afraid Of His Biggest Weakness Being Exposed
We shoot to a video package featuring Darby Allin. He talks about the reason Sting hasn’t been on TV as of late and mentions a talk he had with him about wanting to crawl in a hole and give up.
He says “The Icon” talked him into not doing that. He mentions someone claiming to know his biggest weakness and he asks them to come to his face and say it. Then we shoot to who he was talking about, Jay Lethal, who is standing by with Sonjay Dutt and their enormous pal, Satnam Singh.
We then head to another commercial break before our main event of the evening.
AEW World Championship
Jon Moxley (C) vs. Penta El Zero Miedo
It’s time for our main event of the evening here on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite on TBS from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virginia. The theme song for Penta El Zero Miedo hits and out he comes for his big title opportunity here on the final bout of this week’s show.
Now settled into the ring, his music dies down. The theme for his opponent, Jon Moxley hits. “Wild Thing” plays as the AEW World Champion emerges and makes his custom entrance to the ring through the crowd.
The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this AEW World Championship main event of the evening. We see Mox and Penta go nose-to-nose and then a shoving match ensues. They begin to slowly pick up their intensity as they entangle a few more times in the middle of the ring.
We see the two trade vicious chops back-and-forth in rapid-fire style fashion as the crowd in Norfolk goes bonkers. From there, Mox starts to take over and looks for his finisher before getting hit low by a kick from Penta. Penta starts to get in some offense now.
Both guys try and one-up the other with loud taunts and pie-face gestures, with Mox’s being a double bird gesture, before a big flying high spot from Penta to Mox on the floor at ringside connects. This sends us into a mid-match commercial break as the main event continues.
We return from the break to Penta holding court, with the fans in Norfolk loudly chanting his name as he lands kick after kick on a grounded Moxley. He whips him into the corner but sprints into a big boot from a waiting AEW World Champion.
Mox hits a big release belly-to-belly suplex as Penta charged at him. Both guys are slow to get up and the crowd is picking up in noise as we near the final ten minutes of this week’s show.
Penta unhooks his mask to escape from a bulldog attempt by Mox. He gets Mox in an armbar but Mox escapes and grasps the hands of Penta before stomping the piss out of him. Penta fights back and takes Mox out with a big shoulder attack for a close near fall.
The action spills out to the floor where Mox hits a DDT on Penta on the edge of the steel ring steps. We see some replays of that as Mox sells his left arm still being banged up from earlier offense from Penta.
We see Mox bring the action back in the ring where he hits the King Kong Lariat on Penta for another close near fall. Penta with some diving foot stomps and then a horrifying looking Fear Factor on Mox for an enormously close near fall. We see replays of that vicious spot from the Lucha Bro.
Mox hits his Paradigm Shift and follow-up finisher for the pin fall victory to retain his AEW World Championship.
Winner and STILL AEW World Champion: Jon Moxley
The Firm Goes Roughshod, Take Out Jon Moxley AND MJF
Mox is attacked by W. Morrissey and The Firm as soon as the bell sounds. The commentators mention how MJF said stay away, although he only mentioned during the match and the match is over.
Stokely Hathaway comes out and is yelling and encouraging his men to beat down the AEW World Champion. AEW security sprint down to the ring to try and restore order as the chaos ensues. The commentators bring up something going on backstage.
They shoot to Alex Marvez who is talking in a shook voice about the Blackpool Combat Club being locked in their own locker room. The commentators explain that’s why no one is coming out to help Moxley as he is savagely attacked by the many members of The Firm.
He tries fighting back but is eventually beaten back down as the numbers game is simply too much. MJF comes out and is looking conflicted, as the commentators point out. The crowd pops and MJF paces back-and-forth.
He ends up going backstage and leaving Mox to be attacked by The Firm. He ends up coming back out and he sprints down. He slides into the ring and pushes everyone off of Mox. He yells to Stokely that he is fired. He turns around and is blasted by Ethan Page. The Firm all start to beat down MJF as well.
Now we see Ethan Page and others begin hitting their finishers on MJF. They leave him completely laid out and play to the crowd before throwing MJF out of the ring. W. Morrissey follows out and takes his watch off. He picks up MJF, who tries fighting back, but The Firm help beat him back down. Morrissey hoists MJF up and in brutal fashion, chokeslams him through a table at ringside.
The show goes off the air on that note with The Firm standing tall after their shocking double beat down of Jon Moxley and MJF. This is how a very, very good episode of AEW Dynamite goes off the air. Thanks for joining us!
