CJ Perry, formerly Lana, spoke with Fightful Select ahead of the Surreal Life’s return on October 24.
Perry stated that she did not believe she was punished for Miro joining AEW in the Nia Jax table storyline, in which she was repeatedly put through tables because she pushed for the angle to happen. Perry and Liv Morgan went back and forth about who would be the one to participate in the angle.
It was Vince McMahon’s intention to use the repeated table spots as a catalyst to bring Nia Jax over as a babyface before it went the other way.
Miro, she claims, never runs the references he makes about her on AEW TV by her, and it always surprises her. There have been no formal discussions with AEW, but she has stated that she is interested in telling stories and developing compelling storylines at this time.
She mentioned a wrestling conversation she had with Dennis Rodman, who advised her. He said that while she enjoyed in-ring wrestling and felt she was getting better at it, she was better as a manager, valet, and outside-the-ring performer and should focus on that.
Perry is open to occasional matches and was originally signed up for the WES shows that never happened. Mojo Rawley was praised for being open and honest with her about the possibility of things going wrong, which she said is nothing new to her after working in the industry for so long.
The full interview will be available soon.
