Also scheduled for the program this evening is Dr. Britt Baker & Serena Deeb vs. Athena & Toni Storm, appearances by the new AEW Trios Champions Death Triangle and new ROH Pure Champion Daniel Garcia, as well as Jungle Boy in action and more.
Featured below are complete AEW Dynamite results from Wednesday, September 14, 2022. The following report was written by PWMania.com reporter Matt Boone (@MattBoone0709) as the show aired live on TBS from 8-10pm EST. from the MVP Arena in Albany, New York.
AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS (9/14/2022)
This week’s show kicks off with the usual video package that sets the tone for tonight’s program. From there, we shoot inside the MVP Arena in Albany, New York where we hear the commentary team welcome us to the show.
AEW Tournament Of Champions
Jon Moxley vs. Sammy Guevara
After that, things are sent down to the ring where we get ready for our opening action. We hear William Regal of the Blackpool Combat Club settle in on special guest commentary as our opening contest is about to get underway.
The familiar sounds of “Wild Thing” plays as Jon Moxley makes his custom entrance through the crowd and heads to the ring for our first of two AEW Tournament Of Champions matches scheduled for tonight’s show.
Mox settles into the ring to a nice pop from the Albany crowd and then his music dies down. The Jericho Appreciation Society intro audio plays and then Sammy Guevara’s theme hits and “The Spanish God” makes his way to the squared circle for this tourney bout.
Both competitors have settled into the ring and the bell sounds to get this one off-and-running. We see Mox and Guevara circle each other before they engage and get this match underway.
Mox gets Guevara down to the mat after some back-and-forth exchanges while standing. Once on the ground, Mox goes to work from top position, grinding his elbow in the grill of his opposition before they return to a vertical base.
We see Mox back Guevara into a corner and looks to work him over, however Guevara ends up turning Mox and then proceeds to stomp a mudhole in him and walk it dry, ala the old “Stone Cold” Steve Austin expression from his Attitude Era days in WWE.
After stomping Mox down in the corner of the ring, Guevara turns and gloats to the fans. This turned out to be a bad move on his part, as Mox wasn’t fully beat down yet. He pops back up and nearly clotheslines Guevara’s head off.
We see some more back-and-forth exchanges and then Guevara starts to shift the offensive momentum back into his favor, just as we take a quick time-out for a mid-match commercial break.
As we settle back in from the break, we see the action finding its’ way back into the ring, but not for long. The two duke it out amongst each other until Mox sends Guevara out to the floor with authority.
The referee begins his count-out on “The Spanish God,” with his count getting close to ten before the J.A.S. member gets back into the ring. Mox takes him into the corner and climbs up on the ropes before leaning down and biting Guevara on the face. The crowd erupts as Mox shows his ruthless side.
Moments later, Mox gets Guevara back down to the mat and locks in a Kimura. The commentators talk the viewing audience through the hold as Mox applies the double-wrist lock and cranks away in hopes of getting the tap out. Instead, Guevara escapes and starts to take over.
Guevara starts to take it to the former AEW Champion, and he is settling into the offensive lead. Mox ends up cutting the offensive attempts of “The Spanish God” short as he starts to slow down his momentum and take over again himself. Guevara blasts Mox and now both guys are down as the referee begins a double count on both men.
We see Sammy make it back to his feet where he looks to isolate the leg of Mox for some sort of hold. Mox ends up shucking Guevara off, freeing his leg and sending Guevara crashing down to the mat again where the referee once again begins a double count.
This time, as the referee counts, we see Tay Melo jump up on the apron to provide the distraction. She lures the referee over to her, and with his back turned, she tosses something over the ref’s head. Guevara gets hold of it and levels Mox with it.
He then climbs to the top-rope and goes for a huge high spot, however Mox gets out of the way and there is no one home when Guevara crashes and burns on the mat. Mox follows that up with a match-ending pin fall.
With the win, Mox advances in the Tournament of Champions and will face the winner of the Chris Jericho vs. Bryan Danielson Tournament of Champions match scheduled for later this evening on next week’s AEW Grand Slam special event from Arthur Ashe Stadium, where the winner of that match will become the new AEW Champion.
Winner and ADVANCING in the AEW Tournament Of Champions: Jon Moxley
MJF With A Message For Jon Moxley
We return from the commercial break to the familiar sounds of the theme song of Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Out comes MJF to a mixed reaction from the fans in Albany, N.Y.
MJF gets on the mic as he settles in the ring and his theme dies down. He starts to address Jon Moxley. He brings up Mox getting sober and says it doesn’t matter because either way bad things happen when you cross MJF’s path.
He tells Mox to tread lightly and that ifhe doesn’t, he will find out the hard way that MJF is a demon, unlike his past alcoholism, that he can not slay. The segment wraps up soon after this.
Stokely Hathaway And Co. Are “The Firm”
From there, we shift gears and prepare for our next segment on the show, which sees Stokely Hathaway make his way out and head to the ring accompanied by his full crew of talent that he has scouted and acquired over the past several weeks of AEW programming.
He begins talking as the many talents he has accumulated to his group stands behind him. He goes down the line and assures each member of what he is calling The Firm, that he loves them and has their best interests at heart.
He mentions that he will help each of them achieve their goals, which he lists one-by-one, including Ethan Page wanting the various championships each has their sights set on. Lee Moriarty wants ROH Pure title, Ethan Page wants the AEW All-Atlantic Championship. W. Morrissey and others also have goals.
This is all part of a plan that MJF put into affect with his money to assure he gets what he is out to accomplish himself as he sets his sights on achieving the AEW Championship. The segment ends after all of this. “You’re either with us, or you run from us,” Hathaway says to end the segment.
Jungle Boy vs. Jay Lethal
Now we get ready for our second match of the evening. With that said, the familiar sounds of the theme song of Jungle Boy plays. Out comes the former Jurassic Express tag-team member. He settles into the ring and the theme dies down.
From there, the entrance tune of his opponent, Jay Lethal, begins playing. Out comes Lethal accompanied by Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh. This one will be Jungle Boy going one-on-one against Jay Lethal.
The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. We see Jungle Boy get off to a hot start, taking it to Lethal as he flies all over the ring with fast-paced offense.
He dominates for the first few minutes and then Lethal traps his leg and takes him down to slow down his momentum. He looks for a leg lock but Jungle Boy frees the limb and knocks Lethal out to the floor.
He hits the ropes and builds up a full head of steam but when he goes to launch himself onto Lethal on the floor, the massive Satnam Singh puts himself in front of Jungle Boy, blocking his path and stopping him from doing so.
He tries climbing up to the top-rope to leap over him, but Lethal recovers by this point and hops up on the apron. He ends up grabbing Jungle Boy while he is still on the top-rope and launches him out to the floor the hard way.
Jungle Boy bounces off the mats covering the pavement at ringside. Lethal smiles as we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
We return from the break and see both guys recovering from being down. Jungle Boy starts to take control of the offense, but Lethal ends up slowing him down. Lethal goes for his Lethal Injection finisher, however Jungle Boy stops him from doing so and levels him. He hits a hand-spring off the ropes into a big shot on Lethal.
This decks Lethal and Jungle Boy goes for the cover, however Lethal hangs on and this one continues. Lethal connects with a Russian leg sweep from the middle turnbuckle for a close near fall of his own.
We see Lethal settle into a comfortable offensive lead and he goes for a couple of additional near fall attempts. Jungle Boy manages to hang on each time and he ends up taking back over control of the offense. He hops onto Lethal’s back on the mat and looks for a submission.
Lethal eventually escapes and tries to counter into one of his own, but Jungle Boy avoids it and goes to work on him with elbows to the back of his head before locking in his Snare Trap submission for the tap out victory.
Winner: Jungle Boy
Action Bronson & Hook Prepare, Ethan Page Blasts Luigi Primo, Danhausen Arrives
After a vignette airs to hype Action Bronson and Hook’s tag-team match on next week’s AEW Grand Slam special event from Arthur Ashe Stadium, we head to a live backstage interview segment.
We see Luigi Primo shows up for a discussion with Alex Marvez. He is immediately super kicked by Ethan Page, who enters the camera shot as the kick lands. As he begins talking to Marvez, before he can say anything, in comes Danhausen to an enormous pop from the fans in Albany. Page ends up issuing a challenge for Rampage. The two exchange words briefly and then we head to another commercial break.
Matt Hardy Issues Challenge To Darby Allin
We return from the break to a video package that sees Matt Hardy addressing his brother Jeff Hardy’s status and past match against Darby Allin. He goes on to issue a challenge to Darby Allin for a match on AEW Rampage.
Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Matt DeMartino
From there, we shoot back inside the MVP Arena in Albany, N.Y. where Powerhouse Hobbs’ theme hits. Out comes the massive former member of Team Taz.
He settles into the ring where his opponent, local Albany, N.Y. wrestler Matt DeMartino is already waiting for him. The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one.
Hobbs nearly decapitates Matt with a big diving shoulder block off the ropes. He quickly follows that up with his finishing move and scores the easy pin fall victory in this squash match victory.
Winner: Powerhouse Hobbs
Powerhouse Hobbs Ready To Start New Chapter In Book Of Hobbs, Ricky Starks Isn’t
We see Hobbs get on the mic after the quick and easy win. He addresses chants from the crowd for Ricky Starks and says he’s done with the chapter of Starks and is now ready to start a new chapter in the Book of Hobbs.
Before he can say anything else, the camera catches up with Starks making his way to the ring through the crowd. He hits the ring like a bat out of hell and blasts Hobbs with a big shot to the mouth with the microphone.
This busts Hobbs open hard-way and knocks him out of the ring to end the post-match segment. We see Starks grilling Hobbs from the ring while Hobbs realizes he’s bleeding while staring back from the entrance aisle.
Swerve In Our Glory vs. The Lucha Bros
We return inside the arena after a quick word from the Death Triangle trio and then we hear the familiar sounds of the entrance tunes for The Lucha Bros.
Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo settles inside the ring as the fans in Albany show them love. Their music dies down and now the theme for their opponents plays.
Out comes the reigning AEW Tag-Team Champions — Swerve in our Glory. The duo consisting of Keith Lee and Shane “Swerve” Strickland make their way out and settle into the squared circle as well.
The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this one. We see Penta and Strickland kick things off for their respective teams. Penta jumps into the early offensive advantage over Strickland.
Strickland starts to fight back but Penta cuts his offense short and peppers him with kicks before throwing him into his team’s corner of the ring. He tags in Fenix and the two hit some double-team moves on Strickland for a near fall attempt that Strickland kicks out of at the count of one.
We see Fenix get in some follow-up offense after the pin attempt and then Strickland finds some space, enough to make it to his corner to tag in the big man. In comes Keith Lee as we head to a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
As we settle back in from the commercial break, we see some crazy back-to-back high spots from The Lucha Bros, including a spanish fly off the top-rope and another wild spot that the crowd in Albany went absolutely bonkers for.
When all was said and done, however, Keith Lee turns Penta inside-out with a big finishing shot for the pin fall victory.
Winners: Swerve In Our Glory
The Acclaimed Calls Out Swerve In Our Glory
As Keith Lee and Shane “Swerve” Strickland celebrate their victory over The Lucha Bros, their music cuts off and out comes The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn.
Max Caster does a quick freestyle rap about how they are going to beat Swerve In Our Glory at AEW Grand Slam next week at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York to capture the AEW Tag-Team Championships.
Then Anthony Bowens chimes in with his quick, “scissor me daddy!” catchphrase to end the post-match segment. The crowd seemed to enjoy this one.
Orange Cassidy Ready To Take One Of Double-Double Champion PAC’s Titles
We shoot backstage for a brief segment where PAC is approached for an interview. He is asked about being the AEW All-Atlantic Champion and one of the AEW Trios Champions along with the rest of Death Triangle.
As he boasts about being the first-ever double-double champion in AEW, he is knocked out by a shot from someone off-camera. In walks Orange Cassidy, who kneels down next to him and vows to take one of his titles off of him when they meet. After this, we head to another commercial break.
Serena Deeb & Dr. Britt Baker vs. Athena & Toni Storm
We return to a video package that features the Toni Storm and Athena promo segment that aired as a digital exclusive leading into tonight’s edition of Dynamite.
From there, we head back inside the MVP Arena in Albany, N.Y. where we head down to the ring for our next match of the evening.
Serena Deeb’s theme hits and out she comes. She heads to the ring as the fans react and her music fades down. Now the theme for Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. p[ays and her tag-team partner makes her way out to a big pop and some pyro for her entrance.
Baker is accompanied by Rebel, but not Jamie Hayter, which the commentators point out, noting Baker hasn’t been seen with Hayter since she cost her the title at AEW ALL OUT 2022.
Baker and Deeb are settled into the ring and ready for action. Baker’s theme dies down and now the theme for Athena hits. “The Fallen Goddess” makes her way out with her lit-up wings.
She plays to the crowd as she heads down the entrance ramp and her music dies down. The theme for her partner, the Interim AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm plays. Storm heads out and joins Athena and the two settle inside the ring together.
The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with this women’s tag-team contest here on hour number two of AEW Dynamite. We see Storm and Deeb start things off for their respective teams.
Storm and Deeb each take the other down, only for the other to reverse. The two stare each other down after that and then lock up. Deeb backs Storm into a corner and chops the hell out of her. Storm ends up turning her and chopping the ever-loving crap out of her with a vengeance.
She mixes in some kicks and then tags in Athena. Athena slingshots herself from the apron over the ring-ropes, splashing onto Deeb for a near fall attempt.
Deeb starts to take over and begins putting a beating on Athena. As the women’s veteran puts it on “The Fallen Goddess,” we are talked into a mid-match commercial break by Tony Schiavone on commentary.
We return from the break and after we see Athena and Toni Storm fight from underneath back into competitive form and eventually, taking over the offense. This leads to the finish, which sees Deeb and Baker steal the win after Deeb rams Storm into a steel chair held on the apron by Baker.

The segment ends with the announcement of Josh Woods vs. Samoa Joe with the ROH TV title on-the-line on this Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage.
AEW Tournament Of Champions
Chris Jericho vs. Bryan Danielson
After the commentators run down the currently advertised lineups for this Friday’s Rampage and next week’s AEW Grand Slam special events on Wednesday and Friday, we set the stage for our final match of the evening.
The main event on this week’s Dynamite will be the last semifinal of the AEW Tournament of Champions between Chris Jericho and Bryan Danielson. William Regal of the Blackpool Combat Club once again joins the gang on special guest commentary for the call of this headline bout.
The theme for Bryan Danielson hits and “The American Dragon” makes his way out and heads to the ring to a nice pop from the AEW fans in Albany. His music dies down.
Now the familiar sounds of “Judas” by Fozzy plays as the leader of the Jericho Appreciation Society, the “wizard” of wrestling himself, Chris Jericho, emerges. He heads to the rnig as the fans sing along with his custom entrance tune.
The bell sounds and we’re off-and-running with our final match of the evening, which will determine Jon Moxley’s opponent for next week’s AEW Grand Slam edition of Dynamite from Arthur Ashe Stadium, where the winner of that match will be crowned the new AEW World Champion.
We see Danielson and Jericho exchange some striking battles early on. Danielson starts mixing in his famous trademark kicks, which helps him establish the first offensive lead in the contest. It doesn’t last long, however, as Jericho starts to gain the upper-hand.
We watch the two get involved in a vicious exchange of chops back-and-forth as we head to a mid-match commercial break. As we settle back in from the break, we see the action pick up in this main event showdown.
Now the two start trying to finish this one off with various submissions, with some hanging from the ring apron to the floor and yanking on the leg of the other. Finally, things get finished off when Danielson gets his LeBelle Lock on Jericho and forces the tap.
