Mercedes Martinez, the ROH Women’s World Champion, is currently sidelined due to an injury.
During today’s All Out media call, AEW President Tony Khan mentioned that Martinez is injured, but he did not provide any additional details about the injury. However, he did say that she will be back in action very soon.
There is currently no information available regarding how Martinez was hurt. Her most recent match took place on July 28 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and it was a victory over Jennacide to become the new Unify Kaimana Women’s Champion for the UCE Wrestling promotion.
As can be seen in the tweet below, Martinez has been keeping herself in shape by going to the gym as of late.
Martinez’s most recent match for Ring of Honor took place on July 23, when she successfully defended her championship against Serena Deeb at Death Before Dishonor. The very next night, she competed in the NEW Zero Fear event and won against Vita Von Starr. Martinez last appeared on AEW TV on July 19 with a victory over J-Rod on the July 16 edition of AEW Dark.
Martinez has been a part of AEW/ROH ever since she made her return to AEW during the Dynamite show on December 29, 2021. She defeated Willow Nightingale to become the interim champion at ROH Supercard of Honor XV on April 1 after former champion Deonna Purrazzo was unable to defend that night. She went on to earn the victory over Purrazzo, which allowed her to become the Undisputed ROH Women’s World Champion on the episode of AEW Dynamite that aired on May 4.
